    Done with Akers

    In two games I counted 3 miscues/missed FG's.

I'm not screaming to bring rugland in, but any chance we can talk Hanson out of retirement?

They had (and still have) the opportunity to go into this year with two rookies with big legs: Martin & Rugland. They could have had their kickers locked up for years, but instead our wise coaching staff decided that a vet coming off a terrible season was the way to go. We should float a false rumour out there that a team is looking at Rugland. Maybe that will send the team into panic mode and get them to bring back Kickalicious!

He said that if he was drafted after the 3rd round he wouldn't sign the contract. He wants to choose his team rather than be a 4-7th rd pick.

Id rather have a rookie making the mistakes.. Atleast he will improve.. Akers will NEVER get any better than he was the second we signed him.. (which isnt very good)

I have to agree cwick of coarse, if this happened to rugland, we'd be calling for his head & saying we were stupid for letting a vet like Akers go. I seriously want Akers gone. Some kickers lose confidence and it becomes a mental thing. His very first kick last week botched snap, then two misses & a block this week? A true pro will shake it off, but going off last year's performance... He's done IMO

I was a big proponent of Akers over Rugland, but I'm done with him as well. This team is not headed to the Superbowl, so why not give the Norwegian a shot? I'd love to be wrong, but unfortunately, this pigheaded coaching staff will refuse to make a switch until it's too late.

Akers is Done. We cant make excuses for him because he was once the best kicker in the game. We need kickalicious!! He probably will make a few mistakes/misses but at least thats due to inexperience. I know thats not going to happen, although i dont wish injury to anyone not named Aaron Rodgers, however thats the only way akers wont finish the season

Yeah when his kick was blocked I wasn't confident it was going in anyway.

Want somebody else. Rugland of course.

Lefties should be removed from society to rid the gene pool of this ever happening again in a Lions game.

Havard brought excitement to the Lions as wonder if they miss him still? But give Akers hopefully another chance. As he may get cut in the mid season if things don't pick up with him.
