This is it guys the final home stand of the year. This has certainly been a wonderful season but it has gone by way too quickly. Thank you all for helping this Pirates forum grow it feels good to no longer be all alone here.

On to the games, I think at the very least we need a strong 7-4 home stand if not more to keep the pressure on the Cardinals. Hopefully the Nationals will cool off just a little (minus the games against the Cardinals) to allow us to clinch the playoff spot at home that would be pretty sweet.

Ok its time for a rant. What Hurdle is doing at 1B is just plain unacceptable, you just don't run Morneau out there everyday and let him bat against lefties just because he was the '06 AL MVP and has name recognition. There is simply no case for that. Gaby Sanchez has pulverized left handed pitching all year and needs to be out there every single game in which a left hander is on the hill. Failing to start him is negligence. It is ridiculous that this is happening and it needs to be stopped now. Hurdle has been much better this year with his decisions but this pushing Morneau out there is insane and the Pirates are going to be forced to overcome a 4-6 in the lineup that has two hitters who are going to struggle to hit off the opposing starter. Hopefully we see a good Jeff Locke to some what balance that out.

    1. Josh Harrison (R) 2B
    2. Jordy Mercer (R) SS
    3. Andrew McCutchen (R) CF
    4. Justin Morneau (L) 1B
    5. Marlon Byrd (R) RF
    6. Pedro Alvarez (L) 3B
    7. Russell Martin (R) C
    8. Jose Tabata (R) LF
    9. Jeff Locke (L) P

Sticking with what works I am going to skip the bad guys once again.

Some good news Wandy is pitching his simulated games and one of the batters opposing him is Staling Marte which shows he must be making some progress.

I agree...Hurdle's decision making is questionable at best. He's gotten lucky a couple times, but that's all it was, blind luck.

Regardless, please Anthony Rizzo get sick.

Locke looking good. Now it's time for Hurdle's middle of the order to prove my rant wrong.

Agree with what you said. Morneau did have a good game last night but considering how well Gaby has hit lefties all year, there's no reason to bench him
