Good news regarding the new Arena

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — CBS13 has learned a labor agreement between the unions and the owners of the Sacramento Kings owners for a new downtown arena is coming soon.

Unlike the noisy crows at the Downtown Plaza, those in the know are staying quiet about who or what is in, and who is being left out.

Any labor agreement is expected to pave the way for a timely arena completion, with no work stoppage.

The Kings owners selected Turner Construction to build the arena. The company is currently building the San Francisco 49ers’ new Levi’s Stadium.

Turner expects as many as 700 construction jobs at its peak while building the new Downtown Plaza arena, and a total of 3,000 construction jobs over the proposed two-year construction period.

“I don’t think we can grasp all the possibilities that are available with this deal coming together until it actually happens,” said Kings fan Ken Horn

He’s watched the political saga play out until now.

The NBA selected Sacramento over Seattle as an NBA city in part because of labor’s support of the arena.

Seattle’s longshoreman unions sued to stop arena plans there. that lawsuit got thrown out.

But the possibility of smooth sailing and labor support in Sacramento has helped make the case the keep the Kings in town.
