Another guy being dangled in a possible trade, this time by #Colts? ILB Kavell Conner. had 54 tackles last year Trying to find value...

Good player, they better get something good for him. Otherwise he's pretty valuable to this team.

He is in the last year of his contract, like Angerer. This tells me two things:

    1. Angerer is healthy and they want a Angerer/Freeman starting ILB tandem'

    2. Sheppard and Harvey (not trying to blow my own horn but I listed Harvey as one of my players to look out for last spring) have shown enough to make up for his absence and both have at least another year left under contract.

I have no idea what kind of value KC would garner but I would think it wouldn't be a very high draft pick or a player that is making too much money for another team?
If winning isn't everything, why do they keep score?

I like and have always liked Connor....but I have to say that I don't hate this as much as I did the AQ trade for a conditional bag of chips...if for no other reason than I think not doing that trade could have prevented this rumored trade unless Connor wants out if he doesn't want to be a backup and/or play special teams or something....and if that is the case we are looking at a different situation and I say bye.

I don't see us cutting KC so if we trade him for a 7th rounder or a conditional 6th/7th I don't see any reason for it. He can be (if he would accept the role) a really good ST player which we need at all times as well as a pretty good insurance policy. This would bother me a little and make me wonder what Grigson is thinking giving away 2 pretty good backups for virtually nothing....so I really hope this is not the case.

If we are looking to shop him for OL depth like I've seen in rumors...that makes me scratch my head even more about the Shipley move. Let's assume that AQ can only play center: Even then we would have had Satele who has experience at G and could slide over if the roster called for it, plus Holmes who I think if healthy can play all 3 middle positions in a pinch. I remember getting a pretty hard time when I was worried about the AQ trade and questioned it extensively, and now we may have to give up a very good backup and someone who I think could have vastly improved our ST unit. Even if we are looking for a backup T, Shipley would have allowed a guy like Holmes to be a backup at G and save a G roster spot for a T.

I realize I'm playing the "What if" game, and this and/or the AQ move doesn't matter as long as everyone stays healthy....but we have seen what happens when you lose the what if game and to make an needless trade before camp was questionable, now we may have to pay for it in LB depth and on ST.

If possible, not sure how often it happens, but i would deal Conner for an Offensive Lineman.

That would be my preference as well.
