PSD player rankings by position (Volume II)- #1 Edge Rusher in the NFL

Hello, all. A few years ago, I did something like this in the NFL Forum but forgot to do it this past year. And for those who wander into the NBA Forum, I'm sure you're aware that MHC does these polls every year. But basically, I'm going to go through each position and PSD is going to vote on the best players for that position. The polls will move fast since the regular season is coming up. And in all likelihood, we won't get through each position.

Please TRY AND VOTE FOR THE BEST PLAYER AND DON'T BE A HOMER. I will leave the poll open for one day and than we can carry on to the next best player at that position. I will add more players after each round.

REMEMBER this is based on who is the best player, not the player who has the potential to be the best

For positions like QB, RB, WR, etc., we'll do a top 10. For positions that never garner much attention, we'll do a top 5.

    Please vote in the #3 Safety , #1 DT/NT, #1 OLB and #1 ILB/MLB threads as well:

For those wondering, we did not get to the Edge Rusher rankings 2 years ago.

Note: This poll will include 4-3 DEs and 3-4 OLBs. Basically your edge rushers. I'm also including JJ Watt in here as well.

    PSD's 2013 Edge Rusher Rankings

Here were the final TE rankings as voted by PSD:
    PSD's 2013 top 10 TE Rankings
    1. Rob Gronkowski
    2. Jimmy Graham
    3. Jason Witten
    4. Vernon Davis
    4. Tony Gonzalez
    6. Heath Miller
    7. Kyle Rudolph
    8. Antonio Gates
    9. Owen Daniels
    9. Jermichael Finley

    Edge rusher or defender?

Edge rusher give me Wake, overall defender Watt and it isn't close.

aldon smith is the best pass rusher. he has more sacks than any other player in the league since he entered. that is, he has more sacks than anyone in the last 2 years. watt is the best defensive player however just not the best pass rusher

Yeah, we changed the polls up. And it was too late to put him with the DTs/NTs. Originally was going to put him with all DEs. But I got convinced I should go with edge rushers instead of lumping all OLBs (4-3 and 3-4) together. Handling the front 7 is a bit tricky because of the different schemes. Listing by their nfl.com position isn't the greatest either since 3-4 DEs are more like DTs then they are 4-3 DEs. I think Watt is fine being put here though. Problem is the poll is a bit unclear I suppose.

I kinda wish Von was on this. Not just yet but he should be one of them. He's that good.

Not sure I'd call Watt an edge rusher exactly either.

Chris Long should of been on this list. Guy has lead the league in total pressures for two straight seasons.

This polls' options weren't as many as the others because frankly, I didn't even realize I'd be putting this particular poll up (Edge Rushers). As I explained in the other threads, the poll options were changed and players were grouped differently. Originally, I just had all OLBs together. But to be honest, that doesn't make that much sense since 3-4 OLBs and 4-3 DEs are way more similar than the traditional 4-3 OLB.

Anyways as norm said, Long wouldn't have gone #1 so who cares?
