    Time to shutdown Cain

Cain 31-34 starts 7 straight years, never been on the DL, two postseasons in three years. Time to shut it down, really. #sfgiants

Can't think of any reason why he shouldn't be shutdown? He's pitched more innings than any other baseball players the past few years, so it's the perfect time to shut it down.
So Anna, what do you think about the notion that Russell Wilson is better than Andrew Luck?

Makes sense in some ways, but I don't see it happening. At least not 'shut down' ala Strasburg. And I doubt he'd be happy about it. Competitors want to compete.

Limit his innings somewhat, and throw the youngsters out there to sink or swim. Doesn't much matter at this point anyway.

I like the idea but we just don't have anyone to eat his innings

Would you trust a blind scout? Of course you wouldn't but that's what you do when you simply go by stats

Moscoso, Kickham. Gaudin when he's ready to come off DL.

Gaudin can't eat Cain's AND his innings, Moscoco and Kickham are five inning guys and Kickham is lucky to get that. Same goes for Surkamp. We simply don't have the depth right now.

Bumgarner, Lincecum, Zito, Gaudin, Moscoso/Kickham/Surkamp. I don't see an issue here? Kickham and Moscoso can piggy back eachother. With rosters expanding the Giants will prob bring up a ton of arms to address this issue.

None of those eat innings, even Gaudin to a certain extent. Our bullpen has already been taxed and that would compound the issue, even with rosters expanding. You don't see an issue, I do. Kickham doesn't belong in the Majors

Rosters will have expanded before he's due to come off the DL. Lot of innings on that arm in the last 2+years. Shut him down and get him ready to be fresh next year. I wouldn't mind seeing Mad Bums season end a bit early too. Bring up the kids and throw them into the fire. Our horses have earned their rest over the past few years! Get em rested for 2014!

It's only an issue if you care about winning the games imo. I don't really care about taxing or running our garbage relievers into the ground, or guys like Moscoso and Kickham. September is a few days away and we can bring up more useless pitchers from the minors to eat up innings.

No use having Bumgarner and Cain pitch them.

Neither does half the current roster.

RTL, I like your idea of trading for Haren and giving him a chance to audition for next season.

Trading for him now? isn't he a free agent at the end of the year?
