    Jeff Locke..........Matthew Thomas Cain

    Code:

                                24 Starts 25
                                9 Wins 8

                                2.90 ERA 4.35
                                1.32 WHIP 1.12
                                139.2 IP 153.0
                                103 K's 137
                                68 BB's 47

    Scouting Report:
Pirates: The young lefty tries to reverse a second-half trend that has seen him allow hits at double his first-half rate. His opponents' average has gone from .196 to .233 and the ERA from 2.11 to 2.90 in that stretch, covering six starts.

Giants: Cain is coming off his fifth consecutive quality start in a second half that has seen the right-hander return to form after a rough first half. He has a 2.25 ERA in his past five starts (nine earned runs in 36 innings) since July 26.

    Game 2: Friday, August 23rd @ 7:15 PM

    VS.
    Charlie Morton......Madison Bumgarden

    Code:

                                12 Starts 25
                                4 Wins 11
                                3 Losses 7
                                3.67 ERA 2.82
                                1.33 WHIP 1.02
                                68.2 IP 163.0
                                52 K's 157
                                17 BB's 50

    Scouting Report:
Pirates: Morton is on a streak of three very strong, very consistent starts, going either seven or six innings each time with two runs allowed. He has an exceptional 34-8 strikeouts-to-walks ratio in his past seven starts.

Giants: Bumgarner struggled in his most recent outing and has failed to record a quality start in back-to-back outings after notching 10 straight between June 14 and August 7. He is the only Giants starter with double-digit wins.

    Game 3: Saturday August 24th @ 6:05 PM

    VS.
    Francisco Liriano..........Tim

    Code:

                                19 Starts 25
                                14 Wins 6
                                5 Losses 13
                                2.53 ERA 4.53
                                1.18 WHIP 1.32
                                121.0 IP 153.0
                                126 K's 157
                                47 BB's 59

    Scouting Report:
Pirates: If he goes at least six innings -- and he has done that in 14 of his first 19 starts -- Liriano will finally qualify for listing among league leaders. He has the lowest homer yield (five) among MLB starters, including two in his past 58 1/3 innings.

Giants: Lincecum has been consistent wherever he has pitched, compiling ERAs of 4.57 at home and 4.48 on the road. He also has recorded a 5.07 night ERA and a 2.00 ERA under sunlight. That's deceiving, since he has started just four day games.

    Game 4: Sunday August 25th @ 1:05 PM

    VS.
    A.J. Burnett..........Ryan Vogelsong

    Code:

                                23 Starts 12
                                6 Wins 2
                                8 Losses 4
                                3.09 ERA 6.29
                                1.23 WHIP 1.67
                                145.2 IP 63.0
                                160 K's 52
                                53 BB's 25

    Scouting Report:
Pirates: Burnett snapped a little personal slide with seven strong innings his last time out, and will try to win a second consecutive start for the second time this season (Apr. 27 - May 3.).

Giants: Before his last start, against Boston, opponents were batting .389 (21-for-54) off Vogelsong with runners in scoring position. But he improved against the Red Sox, holding them to 2-for-8 in such situations. Moreover, neither hit produced a run.
    HE WAS A GOOD GIANT

I'm disappointed Morton scrapped his Roy Halladay pitching motion.

They shouldn't give the Belt bobblehead away since the team is in last place.

Would you trust a blind scout? Of course you wouldn't but that's what you do when you simply go by stats

Only one person doesn't understand the ignore list. Predictable and cowardly

not even to watch the giants spot 10 earned on Kershaw there by ruining his chances for CY Young.
