Supposedly Yankees BACK ON Morneau trade option

    http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/new_yo...ees/index.html

With a big night at the plate putting an exclamation point on his torrid run over August, Twins first baseman Justin Morneau is drawing increased attention on the trade market, 1500ESPN.com's Darren Wolfson reports on Twitter. According to a source, the resurgent Yankees are "back in" on Morneau, which could also increase the pressure on the Orioles to make a move on the veteran slugger. The Yanks are now just one game back of Baltimore, though both clubs have significant ground to gain in both the AL East and Wild Card hunt.
Very interesting. I would have thought they were settled at this point with what they got, but maybe they arent as happy with overbay's latest production or perhaps they just feel Morneau has a hotter bat.

he's a free agent after this season isn't he? I'd take a chance as long as he doesn't cost us too much in the way of prospects, I get the idea that they need some lefty power Morneau is an upgrade in that sense

    - Better than Overbay
    - Strictly a rental (no long term commitment)
    - Probably cheap (just a guess)

Why not? Any sort of upgrade is welcome.

I'd definitely take him. I think he is a pretty decent upgrade from Overbay

Depends on the cost.. I'm ok with Reynolds and Overbay.. What we need is better pitching from our starters..

    Interesting...

    Nunez scratched. Reynolds playing 2b

Willingham was just claimed off waivers by an unknown team.

Wonder if the Yanks are the team, and if Nunez is the guy we send to Minny in return...

I doubt it. Sounds like Nunez's knee is bothering him still.
