Rios is solid, you guys did well to get him for next to nothing. His biggest problems are mental, but he has talent. Good luck!

I like it. Kinda surprised it only took Garcia but Rios should help, he a pretty good player.

i would have gotten them to throw about 5 million towards us and throw Adam Dunn in this trade and we could have given them Tepesch to go with Luery and then we could tell Berkman go ahead and retire

Very excited about this deal. The Sox were asking for top prospects in return for Rios (the deal was shot dead when they asked for Profar), so getting him for just Garcia, a good player but the system is loaded with middle infield talent, is tremendous. On top of that, he is under control for next year too, so there's no worries about Cruz walking.

I can't say I am excited yet, but encouraged. Rios could jack up his production for this team under Wash and we have him for another year beside that. Looks like Texas has done what it could to secure a contending team for the off season.

    Should be fun boys

I don't mind it as a Sox fan. Get a decent looking 22 year old and save another $17M. The Sox have banked over $40M with the Peavy and Rios deal, not to mention another $3M on the Thornton deal and maybe even more on the Crain deal.

Great deal for you guys as well. There's no reason to keep paying a guy who won't help you get to the postseason and by all accounts has essentially quit on his team. Leury Garcia is the model of a high character guy with very good defensive skills. He already plays every infield position and has great speed on the bases. If he starts making a little contact, he'd be a great middle infield pairing to Alexei Ramirez for the foreseeable future.
