Just some offseason information. Metta and Melo have been working out together as you can read...Bobby Brown has been there as well...maybe a sign of things???

If he was going to sign here, he wouldve already. He knows we can only offer him the vet min. The only way he would sign is if we match the China offer or come close... And we cant.

The Knicks never made an offer. His Aug 15 NBA out clause would suggest that he is still waiting on the Knicks or some other NBA team...he is not a player that will get more than the minimum from any team and it would only be a 400K difference from what he's getting from China. I think he is the Knicks fall back plan after Udrih and West...obviously the Knicks now have a deadline to meet if that is the case to avoid losing all 3.

Regardless, I thought it was good that Melo and Metta have already been in contact and playing with each other.

Also, it shows Melo is past his shoulder injury at least to the point where it doesn't require rest and he can work out...and if Bobby Brown does sign it's a plus cause he's already been working with Melo and Metta

There are long term advantages to staying in the US even for less money. But like you say, if the Knicks offered, he would have signed already. On the other hand, maybe it's "only" $400,000 to some people, but for me, that's a lot of money.

But would you invest 400K of potential earnings for the chance to play in a league where the average salary is 5 million dollars??? I would.

That is NOT the case at all!!!! He wants to sign here, but we have not offered him a contract yet. Knicks are trying to get Ben U to sign. Brown is hoping the Knicks offer him a contract by the 15th.

Especially with the recent string of players who have gone on to earn big bucks because of the spotlight here.
