Knicks tell Melo: Pick your teamates in 2015

"On the Anthony front, there is a chance he looks at greener pastures in 2014, but sources close to the process say the Knicks have already let Anthony know that their books will be basically clear in 2015 and he can pick his teammates much as Wade did in Miami.

With the New York market behind him and the almost unlimited checkbook of the Knicks, Anthony will have a lot of options in 2015 and while teams like the Chicago Bulls and Los Angeles Lakers might be tempting in 2014, Anthony has a lot of influence in New York and they are willing to let him build his own team in NYC in 2015.

If James and Anthony stay where they are next summer, the free agent class of 2014 takes a huge step backwards, mainly because the next tier of available guys could be the likes of Chris Bosh, Rudy Gay and potentially Brandon Jennings; none of those looks to be the franchise changers that the Lakers or the Bulls were banking on."

Good news. No doubt in my mind he will recruit the best of the best, and after the max FA's sign, the role players who are willing to take a paycut to play for a contender will finally start signing here.

Didn't Melo say that it was a dream come true coming to the Knicks?
Didn't Melo say it will be a long process in order to win the championship but he will stick through it?
Melo also said that he wants NY to get a championship and there is nothing bigger than winning in NY on your homecourt!

He will stay.. Hopefully the GM that is in charge in 2015 gets who Melo wants.

If Melo were smart, based on 2015 FA's, I would love something like

    Tyson Chandler - 10 mil a year
    Lamarcus Aldridge - 15 a year
    Melo - 20 a year
    Shumps - who knows
    Rondo - 14 a year

Smith will still be here, so will felton, hardaway and hopefully CJ leslie and Jeremy Tyler. we can have a damn good team in 2015. a rondo shumps backcourt would be the best defensive backcourt in the league. A Tyson, LMA, Melo frontcourt would be a good 2 way balance. Hopefully we sign melo to a 5 year 100 million dollar contract, not the max.

2015 isn't even a good FA class so I wouldn't get too hyped about it.
It's just a great opportunity to rebuild properly or contend again.

I like this team. I never understood why people took SAS so serious. Why would he go too La when he could do that here, for a team that didn't win a chip in 40 years. SAS is a shock jock now not a true reporter.

Nikola Vucevic is another good option if the Knicks don't get either one of those two I mentioned.

half those guys will be resigned by 2015, and no sense putting RFA's like Irving on there because of course CLE would match.

I personally think that all this bs about melo leaving is just that ; bull ****.... He has given no indication that he plans on it, and the fact that the media and lakers are trying to stir the pot and create this false rumor about him and/or lebron joining the lakers is just silly and baseless.

That said, this is why I fully backed us making that move for bargnani. Because it basically made it so our entire roster will be off the books, with the exception of Felton and shump I believe, which means we can officially build a new team around melo.....

Being it on butches.... Can't wait!!!

Hopefully this is just marketing hyperbole. Melo is a great basketball player. Melo is not a great basketball mind. Input - yes. Pick your teammates - no, other than naming the same superstars that any of us would pick in 2015.
