: Jackson turned in another strong outing Sunday, surrendering four runs (three earned) and five hits over seven innings but still picking up the loss. He attacked the strike zone with his fastball and slider and walked only two.
: Though Cain didn't work deep into the game in his last start, his pitch count of 102 pleased the Giants, who interpreted that as a sign of his improved stamina. Cain's 6-2 record against the Cubs is his best against any non-NL West opponent.
Game 2: Saturday July 27th @ 6:05 PM
: Rusin steps into the rotation spot vacated by Matt Garza. The lefty gave up two hits over five-plus innings on Monday in Arizona despite some likely jet lag. He flew in that morning from Dallas after late word that Garza was being traded to Texas.
: Bumgarner has allowed first-inning runs in only four of his 20 starts this year, including the last two. He's 5-2 with a 1.84 ERA in his last seven starts, having worked seven innings in each outing.
Game 3: Sunday July 28th @ 1:05 PM
: Wood failed to notch a quality start in his last outing for only the third time this year. The lefty gave up four runs over 5 2/3 innings against the D-backs. It's the most runs he's given up since May 25 when Wood served up five to the Reds.
: In his first start after his 148-pitch no-hitter, Lincecum was roughed up for a season-high eight runs in 3 2/3 innings against Cincinnati on Monday. He allowed four runs in five innings in his only start against the Cubs this season.
