    Frustration Forum 2013

Thought I'd start a much needed thread regarding our pathetic display of offense throughout the season. 4 runs in the last 3 games, miserable stats with RISP the last month or so, this thread is long overdue.

We're 18th in hits and average, 26th in doubles, 24th in SB's, 4th in home runs, cancelled out by being 2nd in the MLB in strikeouts right after Houston with 860..........how pathetic is that?........

We need a hitting coach as good as Leo was a pitching coach. Someone that can put a shoe up their a**es, maybe light a fire under them to get them to wake the FU. Three of our every day players have averages that look like pitcher batting averages, Heyward, Uggla and BJ.

It is truly a miracle we have a 7 game lead.......

While it is astounding ATL has a 7 game lead, high HR and K numbers were expected, so I am not worried about that. Also, ATL never steals loads of bases, so that is what it is.

I am perplexed by low doubles numbers and the very low average. I figured BJ in the .250 range and both Heyward and Justin in the. 270-.280 range. Uggla I figured in the. 230 range. That is half the lineup way under performing. Also, Heyward and the Uptons should have way more doubles in my eyes.

I never expected BJ to be an offensive power and Uggla is the high OBP and power hitter I assumed he would be. BJ is the obvious scapegoat, but Heyward and Justin have been noteworthy dissapointments as well.

I also expected some regression from Meds, but he is becoming worse by the start it seems.

I'm frustrated with the team as well but I think a different line-up should be used. I know we have the best hitting 8th hitter in the MLB but that is b/c FG keeps putting CJ in the 8 hole. I believe he should be hitting in the two hole. He hits for average and could be utilized for hit and runs with his inside out approach. I believe we should go with a line up as such:
    Heyward
    CJohnson
    FFreeman
    JUpton
    BMac
    Gattis
    Uggla/Simmons
    Uggla/Simmons

I believe Simmons needs to be moved until he shows a more balanced approach. This line up also has a lefty righty look for the most part. Simmons doesn't have discipline at this point in his career and I believe he should be moved to the bottom half. I don't know if it would cure the offense but hey, try something different. I just think your best hitter average wise should be hitting in the top half to get on base for another hitter, not the pitcher.

What about an outfield of JUp, Heyward, Gattis (left to right).

No. Gattis shouldn't be in RF.
