Except the signing isn't official. Apparently Guerrero isn't eligible to sign yet.

His last 3 seasons in Cuba he hit something like .330/.410/.610 in 886 PA's with 60 home runs.

How's that compare to two recent Cuban players?
From 2010 to 2011 Yasiel Puig and Yoenis Cespedes hit
    Puig: .330/.430/.581 with 17 HR
    Cespedes: .333/.424/.667 with 33 HR

So, he's comparable to those guys.

How have Puig and Cespedes hit in the majors?
If you've stumbled upon this blog you've probably heard of Puig. He went Babe Ruth for his first 150 PA's in the majors. He's since cooled off. Cespedes was excellent last season but has struggled in 2013.

All told Cespedes and Puig have hit .283/.343/.489 in 1057 major league PA's

    ****, you're right:
#Dodgers among 2 NL teams (one AL) on #Cuba SS Alexander Guerrero. He can't sign until he's cleared by US govt. Showcase Wed & game on Thurs
If it's about the money, Dodgers got him.

    dammit

LA can always throw stupid money up front at guys and then end up with them at league minimum when they are hitting like Puig in their rookie season.

Is the money bottomless or something?

He needs to be cleared by U.S. gov it seems. Shouldn't be a problem, I heard he's been here since January.

Guerrero is a free agent but has not been unblocked by OFAC. He can't come into an agreement until cleared. Showcase scheduled for Wed in DR

I do think the Dodgers are planning to offer that much money, not likely someone made that figure up.

No, he isn't even cleared to sign yet. He will have a workout tomorrow and play in a game Thursday for MLB teams to scout.

He looks like a good hitter. He defense looked pretty legit too but he needs to work on his footwork. I could see him eventually as a third baseman but I don't know if he has the arm for that to be honest.
