With the potential Soriano trade, I'm assuming we're not giving up on the season. Word is that a mid-level prospect will be going to Chicago (Chase Whitley has been rumored to go). So, the next order of business is getting another bat.

That bat is Kendry Morales, IMO. He's a switch hitter with power and FA at the end of the season so it won't have any affect on next year's cap. We have a good working relationship with the Mariners.

Morales would be a nice get, but what would it take to get him?

Yeah, the M's wanted David Adams but he was injured so they went the other route.

In the last couple of years we have made 3 trades with them. Ichiro trade, Montero/Pineda trade, Shawn Kelley trade..

Yeah, but the Pineda and Ichiro deals were made after that. The relationship wasn't really affected.

if the Yankees are still going for it this year then the way i see it they need to get a good 3rd basemen and another good outfielder. You can then DFA Hafner since he has sucked and is dead weight. I threw out a 3 team deal with the Yankees,Pirates,White Sox that i could see working out. But my big focus would be on getting Johnny Giavotella from the Royals. Guy is a good player that doesn't get the playing time by the Royals who the Yankees should snag. Adding Soriano,Tabata,Giavotella to the lineup and now you are back competing

If that's the cost, I'd do it.

I think some of it was because they badly want Smoak and used us to get him from the Rangers, they had very little intent to trade him here. Other than that, ya we have made some good deals.

That would be a great move. This team could use a hitter like that and really could use a switch hitter.

This hurts my brain because we should undoubtedly be selling considering the current age and talent of the big club and the uncertainty of our minor league systems. If we sold cano and kuroda it would cut the rebuild down by years by increasing our draft position and collecting elite prospects in trades. However, if we must make additional moves, morales is a great bet, but I wouldn't get into a bidding war for him.

Probably because I don't think they want to sell during Mo's last season.
