The Cubs have to be picking up a large portion of this deal financially with the Yankees wanting to get under the luxury tax next year.

The sad thing they could have had Ibanez for 3 million or so bucks this year. I am still surprised they let Ibanez and Chavez walk with that ballpark.

Not bad. Soriano posts some nice power numbers and should continue with that short right porch.

His OBP is scary though... I believe he would be replacing Hafner though (correct?) so he is an obvious upgrade

Yeah he'll become their primary DH.

Are the yankees moving to the DR?

Alos, i don't think they will pick up much if any of the money on the contract.

Sori is one of my favorite Cubs ever

He got a bad reputation around Cubbie Nation because of his hefty contract... But it wasn't his fault that Hendry gave him the deal... What was he supposed to do? Turn it down.

He's having another good season at 37... Gonna miss him

Tough to lose Garza and Sori within 24 hours, but it's for the best for the club and I understand... They will be missed though

He has been over-hated by Cubs fans. He's always been a good teammate and has interacted very well with the fans despite being booed all the time.

However, his patented "strikeout swinging at slider in the dirt" is enough to keep him far from any favorite Cubs lists of mine.

    A perfect 100 in wRC+.

He will be an upgrade. This is a good move for the Yankees. Should improve their win curvature by a game.

really? did he become a left handed hitter and no one told me? his power is pull power he has 0 homers to right field this year...

seems more like a panic move to me, but hey gives them a right handed bat so who knows

Definitely not a panic move. They gave up little and aren't taking back the vast majority of the salary.

And Cashman is a better gm than to make panic moves.
