    A's @ Angels: Back to Business (7/19-7/21)

    @

    Game 1
    Friday, July 19

    _________
    AJ Griffin__________Jered Weaver

A's: Griffin has allowed two or fewer runs in four of his past five starts, all the while lowering his WHIP to an impressive 1.12. In his last start, he limited the Red Sox to six hits over eight shutout innings.
Other guys: It looked like Weaver was settling into a groove, giving up two runs in a 20 2/3-inning stretch spanning three starts. But the Angels' ace gave up four runs in 5 2/3 innings in a loss at Safeco Field to finish the first half.

    Game 2
    Saturday, July 20

    _________
    Dan Straily__________CJ Wilson

A's: Straily has given up just three hits total in his past two starts, spanning 13 1/3 innings, and has limited opponents to two runs or fewer in seven of his past nine outings.
Other guys: Wilson finished the second half as the Angels' hottest starting pitcher, at 5-1 with a 2.04 ERA over his past six starts. He'll look to avoid the debilitating second half of 2012, when he posted a 5.54 ERA in 16 starts.

    Game 3
    Sunday, July 21

    _________
    Bartolo "All Star" Colon______Jerome Williams

A's: Colon has only yielded just 15 walks and nine home runs in 126 2/3 innings. In his final start before the break, he allowed Boston two runs on eight hits and no walks with four strikeouts in 6 1/3 innings.
Other guys: Williams hit a really tough patch in three July starts, recording no more than 10 outs each turn while giving up 18 runs (17 earned). Williams posted a 19.13 ERA in that stretch, inflating an ERA that started July at 3.21.

I'm not opposed to Gray getting Griffins spot in the rotation. Too many damn homeruns.

If the Tigers can rock 5 right handed pitchers, than the A's can do it too! Lol

Some guys I'd LOVE the A's to look at would be Luke Gregerson and Gordon Beckham. I think they'd be great pickups for the stretch run

I'm not too big on Beckham. Three pretty crappy years after that breakout rookie campaign. This year he's hitting better, but he's hardly walking at all and has a .382 BABIP compared to .286 for his career. He is hitting more line drives this year though, so maybe his BABIP will be higher than usual, but probably not that high.

That's what makes him intriguing. Can definitely buy him low. As for that putrid game tonight. Cespedes out of the lineup makes the lineup that much worse? It truly shouldn't. Everyone needs to get their timing back and well be back

Apparently there is a rumor that we are in talks with the Cubs about Garza. I'm hoping it's either to drive up the price for Texas or to just prevent Texas from getting him. Not that I don't like Garza, I just don't particularly want to give up what it would probably take to get him, especially since he'll be a rental.

Angels defense today is atrocious! And on the Garza subject, I love his stuff. Absolutely love it, but I'd only want him if we got an extension done with him
