Yikes, that is really bad. Possibly career ending. Shoulder injuries that require surgeries are killers for pitchers, and even when they go right it can take years to get back. We won't see him again, they won't tender him a contract at the end of the year.
Shoulder is the worst, elbow is usually what you want to see if it comes down to those two. It's a shame, but another reason why you shouldn't trade for relievers who get overvalued because theyve closed games.

Look at his stats in Oakland, his ERA was unreal (especially in 2009 and 2010) To get a healthy closer with two of three seasons with sub 2 era, you would be looking at a lot more than Reddick and Head
The Sox gambled that he would turn it around and be healthy, it didn't happen. It was a risk and it didn't pay off.
