but get overshadowed because of our love of no hitters?
Zach Greinke- 9IP 2H 0ER 1BB 9K 110 pitches
vs Colorado Rockies #2 offense in NL 4.5 runs per game
Tim Lincecum- 9IP 0H 0ER 4BB 1HBP 13K 148 pitches
vs San Diego Padres #9 offense in NL 3.9 runs per game
Greinke gave up less baserunners, was far more efficient, was masterful in and outside of the strike zone and against a far better offensive club. Greinke only allowed one ball to leave the infield the entire game(a lazy liner)
This isn't to discredit Lincecum's performance in anyway as he was great but as been harped upon, by Brian Kenney, multiple times in recent weeks, do we overrate no hitters? Especially ones where a guy gives up multiple walks? Greinke gave up less baserunners, against a better team, and the Rockies barely hit a ball hard against him the entire night. Yet it's a ho hum CG shut out because he allowed two soft hits.
