Andrew Miller goes to 60 to make room for Thornton.

Sorry Nomar. Jacobs didn't look like he was going anywhere, so I'm fine with this. I knew Kenny Williams wanted him

Actually his numbers look awful this year, not sure I would want him even if he cost nothing. Maybe he's still good against lefties and the White Sox are using him stupidly

Don't mind it....don't really see where Jacobs fits on this team in the near future and we need arms in the pen

    YES

Thornton had appeared in 40 games with White Sox, with 0-3 mark and 3.86. Notable: lefties hitting .173 against him. #RedSoxTalk

Alright, Jacobs was not in the top 30 spects on this team so it is fine, and Thronton is an upgrade in the pen... Regardless, still need at least one more dominant RP.

The guy has the most amount of scoreless appearances for a LHP since 2004 with 441. Not that it reflects on how he's pitching this year, but it's a pretty cool tidbit. And Jacobs was 36th on SoxProspects. With how talented the system is right now, the guy didn't really have a shot here.

That's nice to see. He has almost as many innings against righties who have an .834 OPS vs him this year. Just avoid using him against righties as much as possible and he should help a little.

I don't know why nomar loves Jacobs so much. He can only play LF, his offense hasn't been that good, and he K's like crazy. The odds of him being a good enough hitter to be an everyday LF are so small.

He was one of the best relievers in baseball for a couple years. The White Sox should have traded him a couple years ago but they were stupid.

Per a major league source, cash included in deal is 6 figures and is to be used toward the $1 mil buyout on Thornton's $6 mil 2014 option.
