Anyone else see these signings as great for the future? I know they are only 1 year deals, but I am pretty sure that being from LA is not the only reason players in their prime would take vet minimums.
Here's my theory: Lakers told both Farmar and Young, "if you guys play well this year, we can give you a spot on the 2014-15 roster, in which case we will be reloaded with at least 2 more max players. Also, we will be able to pay you much closer to your market value starting next year."
On top of that, anyone we sign right now will count as "re-signs" next year and we can go over the cap with "re-signs".
I think these guys signed with us because they want to play on next years reloaded roster and a piece of all the money we have to toss around next year.
