Daniel Murphy: Why, we have Flores moving to 2B and has the bat. Worth, he is a Top ten 2B in the league. Value: Add in to other big name ticket, or solid prospect on own accord, especially to a team trying to compete for playoffs in need of a 2B, 3B or 1B either permanently of temporarily and then UI upon return of an injured player.
Marlon Byrd: Why, his value will never be higher. Worth, he is a top 15 RF right now and can add veteran leadership as 4th OF. The question would be do we see him on the team in the future mostly next year? Puello may or may not be ready, Lawley’s BA only thing holding him up and will be in AAA next year… But otherwise unless we threw him in on a deal with someone else to fleece a team that might be selling, it may be better to hold on to him, but he definitely has some worth, it would have to be to the right team.
Latroy Hawkins, will he be on the team next year? I can see it, but we may be able to get something nice for him now. We have plenty of depth pitching and replacing him in the off season shouldn’t be that hard. There are a few teams in the race that could use a guy like him. Lyon even though he dipped just recently might be included in this if sold properly and fixes recent dip in minors? Not huge value on either, but Latroy could work.
Bobby Parnell, probably our best asset currently to fleece a competitive team right now.
Josh Satin or Ike Davis, both should be marketed and whatever one would net us a better deal should be moved.
Minor league pitching depth is huge right now and other than Syndergaard all are sellable.
Gee, would be nice to get something out of him, would he pass the healthy bill of sales would be the biggest question?? Duda, Bixler, Hicks, Brown, Niuewenhuis, all should be shopped for Low or High A with some potential worth players, for a team needing depth. ALL these won’t amount to much, but again they should be marketed.
Who do we Target.
Boston: Their need BP, Bobby Parnell and Hawkins, with a Tapia and Ynoa type pitching prospect and maybe Nimmo and Tovar/Quintinilla type guys. Our need/wants: Xander Bogaerts, gives us a SS that we can really use and may not be ready till next year but is a very high prospect, their best, but this would solidify our SS position for years to come and very affordable with plenty of control. Jackie Bradley would also be a great target and what would we give to get both.
Offer: both for BP, LH, Wheeler, Nimmo, Tapia/Mateo, Hicks, Bixler and Brown/Nieuwenhuis as a starter, this would drive promotions for many guys, but would leave us strapped for the remainder of this year for pitching, but with Niese coming back and Torres, we promote some BP depth or even make another trade for some BP help. Sounds expensive for both sides and I question myself, but this gives us two guys that we sorely need and keeps our payroll down for a while.
Would like to hear other propositions. I was going to put a few other teams out there, with the likes of Cargo and Stanton, but this was the one team that could use some of our guys right now as well as would fill our 2 most needed positions, for a long term need.
