Stafford extension to be completed today?

AdamSchefter: Lions and QB Matthew Stafford are on verge on blockbuster extension that could be done as early as today, per team source.

davebirkett: Matthew Stafford is expected to sign a three-year contract extension soon, possibly today.

"blockbuster extension" but only 3 years? I was hoping for longer But I guess if his injuries come up again, good to have an out somewhere that's not very far down the road.

I'm thinking it might just be 3 years added onto his current deal......kind of like what Rodgers did (he didn't change the next 2 years of his deal IIRC but just added on more years to his current deal).

    Who knows though.

yeah i agree, 3 years isn't enough... but oh well, at least it won't be a distraction this year....

of coarse unless he sucks this year and then the media will hound him on making soo much money and not producing w's on the field.

Suh deal would prob add another ~7M over the same time, maybe more. Guess Suh will be next.
