No. Restricted. He'll probably be in Cleveland til 2018. That's how it works these days. Unless he really wants out, he ain't leaving.

    Year 1: Guaranteed
    Year 2: Guaranteed
    Year 3: Team option
    Year 4: Team option
Year 5: Restricted Free Agency/Qualifying Option

It's set up to essentially insure these smaller market teams can hold onto their draft picks for basically 7-8 years, unless of course the player desperately wants out or things go to ****.

LeBron can get out of his contract after this season AND after the 2014-15 season. I don't think anyone can accurately speculate whether or not he actually will at this point.

Melo also has an ETO after this season, and if he doesn't use it hell be an UFA after the 2015-16 season.

The top potential 2014 FAs, like Irving (Team Option), Rubio (TO), Lillard (TO), Cousins (Restricted), Wall (Restricted), Wade (ETO), LeBron (ETO), Bosh (ETO), Melo (ETO), Thompson (TO), Beal/MKG/Any 2012 draft pick (TO), Gay (You think he'll opt out of 19 million?), Amare (Huge ETO, yeah right...), ZBo (16.5M player option), Monroe (restricted), and so on all very well could not be available. The ETOs and player options are for HUGE amounts, the team options won't be declined, and I doubt any of those teams let their restricted FAs leave.

Deng, Parsons, Granger, Bogut, Pierce, Dirk, Gortat, are the best unrestricted free agents after next year.
I no longer care about anything here except for the Entertainment Forum, which sucks; the Music forum, which sucks; and the Magic forum, which does NOT suck.

    Love y'all!

    Except for all of y'all.

Restricted Fa means the team that has that player can match the Lakers offer and they keep him? Right?

Does anyone have a link to 2014 true FA & opt out players?

Go after the big fish next year, although it's a slim shot we get either. I mean with Melo, there might be a chance there if the Knicks have a bad year. Not a good chance, but a chance.

We talk about Melo and LeBron but those guys will be 30-32 if I'm not mistaken. To we really wanna tie our future to guys who'll either be past it or lose a lot of their athleticism? I mean why not go younger?

Isn't much to choose from. I'd like some young legs. Drafting a star just seems like the best option

    Amnesty MWP

Trade Pau Gasol to Minnesota to team up with Ricky Rubio, Shabaz Muhammed and Kevin Love for Derrick Williams and/or Alexey Shved and 2014 first round draft pick

    Tank the 2013-2014 season:

Hopefully draft Andrew Wiggins, Jabari Parker or Julius Randle.

    2014 Free Agents

    SF - Rudy Gay

    2015 Free Agents

    C - DeMarcus Cousins
    PF - LaMarcus Aldridge
    SF - Paul George
PG - Kyrie Irving, John Wall or Kemba Walker

i think they make a run at Monroe, Cousins, and Wall. Wall would be my first choice.. after returning from injury last season he played great. If you can get him and Cousins somehow then your team is set for a while.

I love this plan. We should trade Gasol right now. He's expiring and a good fit for Minnesota.

    GO LAKERS
