Shoot. Sucks to lose Miller and even worse to call up Aceves.
    Favourite Teams:

Boston Red Sox: 46-52, games this week vs. Blue Jays (4), Rays (3)
Indianapolis Colts: Good draft and off-season so far.
Looking for new NBA team to cheer for
Ottawa Senators: 37-31-14, season over, free agency begins this week.

X-rays negative on Miller. In walking boot, still sore, heading back to Boston to see specialist for more info. Headed to DL, Aceves on way

The lefthanded reliever left Saturday night’s game against the Angels in the seventh inning after an awkward twist on the mound resulted in pain. Miller was placed on the 15-day disabled list and will be examined in Boston on Monday by Dr. George Theodore, a foot specialist.

The initial x-rays taken on Saturday were negative, but the fear is Miller has a Lisfranc injury on the top of his foot. That could involve a bone or ligaments.

“That was one of the things mentioned. It could be a smaller one,” Miller said. “Hopefully it’s not too serious.”

Miller was on crutches before he was fitted for the boot and could not put any weight on his foot.

Andrew Miller has ligament damage on left foot and will need surgery, likely lost for season. #redsoxtalk

****. We definitely need a reliever. Not an overvalued, over hyped one. Just a solid reliever in an under the radar trade.

The downside here is that everyone is going to know that the Sox need a reliever, which might jack up the price they demand of the Sox for a "solid reliever".

Add Crain and Thornton if Chicago does not ask for to much. (Slim chances) The pen on this team is terrible now.

Every contender is looking for bullpen help right now. I would love to add both but realistically we need to trade for whichever pitcher is cheaper, assuming one's cost will be prospects outside our top 10.

    RP ERA by month
    Uehara: 1.69, 2.61, 2.08, 0.00
    Miller: 4.76, 2.84, 1.46, -.--
    Tazawa: 2.84, 2.53, 3.29, 4.50
    Breslow: -.--, 1.38, 4.38, 6.75
    Bailey: 1.46, 3.00, 10.13, 0.00 (2IP)
    Wilson: 0.00, 3.75, 5.68, 16.20

Notice the trend here? I was concerned about Farrell's use of the BP early in the season and suggested they'd be suspect in the second half. They're trending hard in that direction and losing one of the few steady (of late) arms is not going to help. Unfortunately, getting a replacement for that one guy is not going to fix things either.

They need to replace Miller and Wilson at this point. Breslow or Tazawa should go for DL "rests" - but obviously not at the same time. You'll need to obtain one guy in trade and bring up two guys to do this - and it still may not work, in particular if Bailey doesn't come back at all and Uehara's well runs dry.

6/27/09: “We expect [Rondo] to play by the rules and be a leader as a point guard. We need him to be more of a leader,” Ainge said. “There were just a couple situations where he was late this year, I don’t know if he was sitting in his car, but showed up late and the rest of the team was there. We have team rules and you have to be on time. He was fined for being late, he said he was stuck in traffic, and it’s just unacceptable.”

    Some jerks never learn.....
