Lakers knew this was coming. They had told him early on in the process they could not match any offers he received from an outside team. He was either coming back at a reduced rate, or gone. No big deal.

He isn't very good. Last two months of the season he shot basically under 40% and averaged 6 ppg

I liked Clark, but that's cause I'm a huge Louisville fan and love watching him in college.

Oh well. I knew the Lakers couldn't match any offer so it was inevitable. Yay cap space!

you mean won't... the lakers could pay him $14 million a year if they wanted...

good move for clark... definitely maxing his money... I just wonder if the second year is guaranteed... if it isn't the lakers could easily have paid him this much ($4.5 million) for 1 year...

Does this mean he's not getting a statue out front of Staples?

    Earl Clark is gone

Yea cap space.. Lets go out and sign the top free agents now that earl Clark is off the books.. Oh wait, we are still 20 million dollars over unless we resign Dwight when we will be 40 mil over and have to pay like 60 mil more in tax penalties. Ha

I liked Clark but knew someone would throw more money at him then he deserved. The lakers aren't going to match that, especially being so much over the salary cap. Rip clarksanity

while that offer is definitely at the top end of his implied value it is hardly overpaying especially for a franchise with cap space... the real question is whether the second year is fully guaranteed.
