    Free Agency 2013

Why not have a thread that has any/all of the signings and trades? I get to work from home this Friday so naturally I'll have the NHL network on and one eye and ear on the TV all day long.

Defensive D and goaltending, that's our pain points.

Well, we got Scuderi... Cooke, Adams still unsigned, and of course Morrow, Iginla, Murray.

Do we even NEED any more on this team? Youth can come up, perhaps ship Niskanen out or something.

    Thoughts?

Nisky is the odd man out now. Ray will make a trade to sure up the third and fourth lines. We need to get more back for 1.1 then Glass provides. At 2.5 move #2 and there is 3.6 for two bottom six guys. If we move Jussi too there is another 3mil. Just a thought.

Even though they are slower players I would love to see Pens get Nik Antropov and resign Morrow. After reading how he played through an injury I want to see him back and I believe he deserves a shot. I also would not mind seeing Penguins try to sign Mason Raymond either. That is of course of we dont get 3rd and 4th liners with the possible trades of Jussi and Nisk.

Think of the lines we could have if we have Morrow back and Antropov

    Bennett - Crosby - Dupuis
    Kunitz - Malkin - Neal
Morrow - Sutter - Antropov (An extremely hard hitting and big line)
    Adams- Vitale - Glass

Am I the only one that kinda wants to sign Jagr? A few years back, he said he would sign for league minimum to finish his career under Mario. Maybe Shero could call him, remind him of that and see if he's still interested. I think our lineup at that point would be (at least I would make it):

    Kunitz-Crosby-Jagr
    Bennett-Malkin-Neal
    Jokinen-Sutter-Dupuis
    Glass-Vitale-Adams

    Letang-Scuderi
    Orpik-Martin
    Despres-Engelland

I'm pretty sure after Jagr burned us for more money from Philly Mario said he would be cutting ties with him.

I cant wait to stand on the podium with Zygi and Mark and Jonathan, and were standing on the podium, and we look up and the confetti is falling down on top of us, and were all hand in hand, and Commissioner Goodell comes over and hands the Super Bowl trophy to Mr. Wilf and tells him hes world champion, that is my goal and that is my drive.

That wouldn't surprise me, that was a dick move. Any chance of him redeeming his legacy here is shot. He will always be known as that really good douchebag that couldn't win on his own.

Terrible losing Iginla.. especially to Boston. Wouldve much preferred to give the Dupuis contract Iginlas way. If only we had a capable coach to make the right decisions cant imagine if Crosby and Iginla played together for a full year

Oh well, he deserves to play with a team that will let him succeed.

And Craig Adams... are you freaking kidding me? We cant find a young replacement to do what he does?

Scuderi was a nice pickup though.

What i expect our team to look like next year..

    Kunitz-Crosby-Dupuis
    Bennett- Malkin- Neal
    Jokinen-Sutter-Jeffrey
    Zolnercyk (sp?)- Vitale- Adams

    Scuderi-Letang
    Orpik-Martin
    Despres-Bortuzzo

    Vokoun-Fleury

a team thats downgraded from last years talent.

Im interested in Dustin Penner.. would deff help toughen this team up.

    1) That statement is assuming Iginla would have taken that deal, which based on the money he got with Boston, is extremely unlikely.
    2) I would liked to have seen that in the playoffs more as well, more so from the beginning and let them chemistry have built long enough for the tougher teams (Boston obviously).
    3) What is wrong with Craig Adams? Considering all that he brings, especially for only 700K, I wouldn't care if he was 45, that's a good deal.
    4) Don't expect Vokoun to start the season as the #1, Bylsma and Shero have said as much.
    5) Penner would be a decent pickup but we simply don't have the room for him. Sure he could fill in nicely anywhere on the top 3 lines, 3rd line most likely, but he is probably going to sign for somewhere around 3M or so... money which we can't really afford, at least as we sit currently

I'm with this but I just don't want to see Engelland as a regular in our 6 d-men. Let Bortuzzo have that role.

You do realize that Craig Adams is our best forward on the penalty kill and probably the best shot blocker as well. If he brought even the slightest bit of an offensive threat to the table he would be making much more money than the measly 700,0000 he signed for. He is a great value signing.

I do not like him. Yeah he can PK, but I just can't believe we cant find someone else who can do that and bring ANYTHING else to the table as well. I feel like him on our roster is hindering younger, fresher legs from getting on the ice.

How about that guy we picked up who use to play for Philly.. Zolniercyk? Can he PK? I honestly think if the staff worked with Vitale he could PK too. PK is a lot about heart in my opinion and hard to say many more guys on that team plays with more then Joey V.
