    Miami Marlins (30-51) @ Atlanta Braves (48-34) 7/2-7/4

    @

    Miami Marlins@ Atlanta Braves

    Tuesday, 7/2 7:10 PM

    Tom Koehler, RHP (1-5, 4.78 ERA)vsKris Medlen, RHP (5-7, 3.02 ERA)

Koehler comes off a no-decision against the Twins. He gave up three runs in the first inning, but nothing else in four innings. Before the tough outing, he gave up one run in seven innings at San Francisco.

While compiling a 2.59 ERA in his past eight starts, Medlen has distanced himself from the mechanical issues that plagued him early this seasons. He has completed seven innings in three of his past five starts.

    Wednesday, 7/3 7:10 PM

    Ricky Nolasco, RHP (4-8, 3.93 ERA)vs Mike Minor, LHP (8-3, 2.98 ERA)

The subject of trade rumors, Nolasco is expected to be moved by the July 31 non-waiver Trade Deadline. He comes off a loss to the Padres, giving up five earned runs and six total in five innings.

Coming off two of his worst starts of the season, Minor allowed three runs on seven hits in his first three innings against the Royals on Wednesday, but he allowed just two more hits over his final three innings.

    Thursday, 7/4 7:10 PM

    Jacob Turner, RHP (2-0, 1.76 ERA)vs Julio Teheran, RHP (6-4, 3.12 ERA)

Turner comes off his first career complete game. It also was the first time a Miami starter went the distance this year. The 22-year-old was in command in beating the Padres, striking out seven on 111 pitches.

Teheran's slider has become a reliable weapon as this season has progressed. He has allowed fewer than three runs in nine of his past 12 starts. He has a 1.34 ERA in his past six home starts.

We're at home so we need to protect our house...and against a lower opponent...this is a must.

Not sure about the Thursday matchup...the official website has got Jacob Turner starting but on ESPN/rotowire...it reports that Henderson Alvarez would be making the start...meh.

#Braves hitters led NL with 230 strikeouts in June, but also led by a wide margin in walks (115). No other team had as many as 90.

#Braves pitchers had NL-leading 2.71 ERA and 220 strikeouts in June. #Reds were only staff with more strikeouts (223).

Not really overrated. We lost at least 5-7 games from striking out with RISP. Cost us runs while our pitchers were pitching some very winnable games. Gotta improve on that if we're not gonna have a repeat of 2010 when we lost our 6.5 game lead over the phillies.

Gotta capitalize this series. At home, vs the worst team in our divison. Doesnt matter if they are hot, good teams with WS capabilities have to beat the teams that are inferior.
