Isles get Cal and a 3rd rounder this year.

Tough to "sell low" on a former top 5 pick but Nino has way too much baggage and is not gonna hit his full potential, and obviously didnt have much value. So awesome to get a 15-20 goal, 300 hit, 1st or 2nd unit PK, 25 year old RWer (position of need for Isles)

Nino hasn't proved hes more then a 3rd liner & Clutterbucks a 3rd liner that hits anything that moves. So Islanders move toward a gritty game

Good move for MN who probably couldn't have afforded to keep Clutterbuck.

I believe this was a bit of a cap move for the Wild too.

So, just wondering, how this Nino guy played 55 games in 2011-2012 season, and had only one goal and 0 points...

Also, trying to find his 2012-2013 AHL statistics, but can't find anything...could I get some help?

^He had 28 goals and 22 assists in 74 AHL games last year (pretty good fopr a 20 year old, nothing amazing though).

And in 11-12 he had awful linemates and no minutes. We put him on line 4 with Tim Wallace and Jay Pandolfo and hurt his confidence and development. Even though he wasnt impressive in rally any aspect, he would have done a lot better with better linemates.

I can see him being a 25-25-50 guy in the NHL within 3 years

Cal turns 26 at the start of the season (November), and is not exactly coming off a strong season at a whopping 4 goals and 10 points in 42 games.

Cal also needs to be signed, it will be interesting to see what he gets.

That said, I didn't expect Nino to get the return that some were projecting.

Isles got bent over in this one. Stupid. Am I the only one that thinks Schneider for Nino is a better deal? Like come on.

Canucks turned down Nino and the 15th overall for Schneider.

That's a better deal than the NJ deal.. Nino's potential is high. The difference between 9 and 15 isn't that high. I think Mike Gillis and Garth Snow **** the bed on this day. I'm sorry kmo. You know I love you like a wife that has been gone to war for a year and returned in a dramatic fashion.

Nino, could be good, not great but Cal is f'ing awesome! GREAT team player, hits everything that moves, can score 20-25 golas, non-stop motor, and a great team guy! Another great player from Welland, Ontario!
