This has been expected for a long time; everyone knew JR wasn't going to opt in at $2.9m. He's going to try to sign a long term deal with us now

All signs point to him re-signing and there was a report of a 4 year deal possibly being discussed. With that said, I just have a gut feeling he's gone

Yeah no s.h.i.t. And you think there's not one team out there willing to pay him more. Say goodbye.

We aren't that lucky. This is the Knicks your talking about - we'll sign him for 4 years 40 mill and have 4 more years of terrible shots mindless turnovers low percentage low IQ basketball and a strange twitter related articles (which is easily the best thing about JR).

My guess is that he and Copeland are both gone. I'll actually miss Copeland more. I would not be surprised if the Knicks actually are hoping some team offers JR a lot of money that we do not want to match. I remember a lot of us criticised Al Harrington for being a bonehead and losing many games for us even though he got hot and won a lot of games too. I see no difference between JR and Harrington in the bonehead category. I would rather have a smart steady player you can count on.

I love JR and want him back here, but if he goes somewhere else, time to move on. With that being said, I don't expect him to be back.

I was actually hoping if Smith left, Copeland would fill his spot. The guy I want to be our 6th Man the most is Ben Gordon. I think coming to New York would re-energize the guy and he would have him a cult following at the Garden. Problem is, he's getting paid entirely too much and if we keep Smith, we don't have a need for him..
