New York Mets @ Chicago White Sox

    __________

New York Mets (30-42)-Chicago White Sox (31-42)

    Ball Park

    Team Stats

    ___

    Pitching Matchups

WHEELER: Wheeler's debut went about as well as the Mets could have hoped, with six scoreless innings against the Braves. He was temporarily optioned back to Triple-A afterward, but will return in time to pitch Tuesday in Chicago.
SALE: Sale had an unusual outing Wednesday at Target Field. After a rocky second, which included two visits from the White Sox trainer, Sale couldn't quite find a rhythm and gave up four runs on eight hits through five innings.

MARCUM: Following another subpar outing last Wednesday in Atlanta, Marcum's rotation spot appears to be at risk. He will look to turn things around against the White Sox, a team he has not faced since he was with Toronto in 2010.
DANKS: Danks gave up four home runs to the Twins in five innings on Thursday at Target Field. The left-hander gave up six runs on 12 hits, as he struggled to put batters away while only striking out two.

Tuesday's night game should be a gem.

Oh wow we are facing Chris Sale, that will be a tough matchup. Anyways I say Wheeler goes 9 IP, 0 H, 0 BB, 27 K's.

Or maybe I'm asking too little?

Glad Wheeler will be facing Chicago. They're the worst offensive team in the AL and third worst in baseball.

Since I rarely, if ever, follow the minors, I was just reading up on Andrew Brown, I now am looking forward to seeing him play. The Cardinal organization has always recognized talent, so there should definitely be some potential long term upside.

Can we get lucky for once with someone else's draftee?

In the post-steroids era, the value of two power starters cannot be understated. A true power pitcher in this generation of wild swingers is worth his weight in baseball gold, and to have two of them would catapult any team to success — even the Mets.
    -- Ken Kernan, NY Post

I actually agree with something written in that fish wrap. True enough, with the rate of strikeouts at an all-time high (I think) it is so advantageous to have the kinds of pitchers that can capitalize on it.

I asked Pedro Martinez, most dominant starter ever, about the most impressive pitchers he's seen this year. First name he said: Matt Harvey.—

Just imagine if these two stay healthy......wow Baseball could be back in Queens for real.
We would actually have meaningful games in June.

More like meaningful games in September and October if both Wheeler and Harvey pan out....

Scary to think Syndegaard and Montero could come up along with these guys and Niese, that would be some rotation of the future.
