Big series against the Reds starts today. Would love to take the series but I would be perfectly content with a split.

    Pirates

    1. Starling Marte (R) LF
    2. Alex Presley (L) RF
    3. Andrew McCutchen (R) CF
    4. Garrett Jones (L) 1B
    5. Russell Martin (R) C
    6. Pedro Alvarez (L) 3B
    7. Neil Walker (S) 2B
    8. Jordy Mercer (R) SS
    9. Francisco Liriano (L) P

    Reds

    1. Shin-Soo Choo (L) CF
    2. Derrick Robinson (S) LF
    3. Joey Votto (L) 1B
    4. Brandon Phillips (R) 2B
    5. Jay Bruce (L) RF
    6. Todd Frazier (R) 3B
    7. Zack Cozart (R) SS

I personally have no qualms with Presley getting the nod over Snider. Don't mind this lineup at all.

Good to see Marte and Martin back out there today. By the way I can almost guarantee you that the reason Presley is starting is because in 19 career PA against Leake he has a 1.418 OPS. Don't particularly like the rationale but I also don't have a problem with Presley starting.

Wow, from comments made by Hurdle it appears Mercer is the starting shortstop. At least Hurdle said he is going to get the lion's share of work.

Recall in every 4 game series so far even the defacto home and home one with the Tigers we lost the first game and then won the next three.

Jose Contreras has been resigned to a minor league deal and assigned to AAA. It's nice to keep him around.

He can be useful. He was just brought back too quick. Now he is just a depth option and considering that Zagurski, Reid and Cumpton have all been in the majors at some point we may need him.

Off topic but anyone see that Etic Cordier is apparently throwing 100 mph fastballs in AAA. We may need to look at that kind of heat at some point.

Two swings by the Reds have the Pirates in the hole. They both were no doubters but I hate parks like this. Pirates aren't built for them at all.

Not looking good. Walker, Mercer and a PH (McKenry I'm guessing) against Chapman is our last chance.

Votto pops it up and the ball leaves the yard. That is essentially your ball game.
