Most of the concern about this guy seems to be on whether he will go to school and pursue a football career...those concerns can be squashed...
“He’s going to go (with the Twins),” Mark Stewart said. “You don’t get drafted fourth and not go. It’s a once in a lifetime offer. He looked at me when they made the call and said, ‘Dad, I’m going to accept the (Twins’) offer.’ He’s made the decision, and he will talk to (A&M coach Kevin Sumlin).”
I like this pick. Stewart has some of the best stuff in the country right now. He has a plus-plus fastball, plus-plus slider and an above average curve. His change up is decent enough and should improve with coaching. This 4-pitch mix should help the Twins quite a bit. As a highschooler, his progress will be slow, but he should be in Cedar Rapids next summer.
By the way, PJ, where did you get the video? That's great.
Sounds very promising. He's a very good prospect and I'm looking forward to him getting into camp and getting started.
I am excited about him as well. Considering that he is very young, and is expected to have to take awhile to develop his game, and that the Twins love keeping top talent in the minors, I think his ETA should be about 8-10 years.
I'm excited about Stewart although I was holding my breath hoping the Rockies wouldn't take Gray. Still, Stewart has as much potential as Gray and Appel, he'll just take longer which means theres a bit more margin of error. The Twins got the best player available to them at #4 and it happened to be the biggest team need. Well done.

I think the Twins gave Kohl a promise at 4 if he were available. Kohl seemed to switch his tune very quick about going to college immdeiately after he was drafted, I am also sure the Twins had a discussion with him, on what his chances of signing were if he went 4th.
