If we get closer to training camp and the front office doesn't think Patterson will make an immediate impact at WR (He will be good to great on ST) I would expect us to look at signing either Brandon Lloyd or Steve Breaston. Neither are blow your socks off, but could be reliable targets for Ponder.

At the end of the day, Frazier's job is linked to Ponder at this point. He will push for a reliable WR if he thinks it will help. I think Spielman has probably earned himself a mulligan as of right now based on his draft history and the absurd number that are currently starting on our team.

I don't see Frazier linked to Ponder. Musgrave is, Frazier is viewed as a team leader rather then a talent evalutator.

They both are. I agree that Frazier is viewed as a the team leader, but he is also partially responsible for player development.

Frazier was a defensive coach, so other than overall record he won't linked to Ponder. Childress, on the other hand, was an offensive minded coach who got to choose his guy in TJack.

I agree. Musgrave was supposed to groom Ponder and mold him into a solid NFL starting QB like he did with Matt Ryan. That was not Frazier's responsibility. If Ponder fails this year its Musgrave that needs to go not Frazier.

He's the HEAD coach. He's responsible for everything.

This is the thinking that puts teams in a rebuilding loop. Frazier is fine.

Well if we are really going to think logically about this:

Considering that Frazier was the one who interviewed and hired Musgrave to develop Ponder, he is still part of the chain if Ponder fails. Musgrave would be the first to go, but I think Frazier would most likely be released also. I really like Leslie and hope he stays around for a long time and I also think Ponder will succeed and take a big step this year. But hypothetically this is what has happened in the past in other organizations and I don't see if being any different here.

Except that there's absolutely no sign that Frazier is even close on his way out. With guys like Tice/Childress we always knew that they were doomed if we lost. Unless we completely crap a brick this year he's staying, whether or not Ponder progresses.

I think if we don't step forward as a team Frazier will be gone.
Why else would they not have extended him last year??

I think frazier is not the problem here i think. We are good at about all of the positions except(personally quarterback, MLB) If we get those cleared we will be a real threat to the NFC North.

You guys are acting like Ponder has or is already a failure. This is all moot as Ponder will have a great year. At least an 85 rating.

I'm 99% sure that Frazier said he didn't want to sign an extension until after this year.
