Jesus Montero demoted to AAA; Michael Pineda Clocked at 95 MPH

Pineda said his shoulder is fine and he feels like he is ready to come back.

Many believe he could be back as early as June and on May 19th he dialed it up to 95 MPH.

On the other hand, Jesus Montero has been struggling with the Mariners to throw out base runners and has thus been demoted.

As the trade seems to have collapsed for the Mariners, it's now looking up for the Yankees.

Pineda could easily be a weapon for this team moving forward and an answer to our pitching questions.

Oh and also, Montero has accumulated a -0.7 WAR in Seattle, so right now the Yankees with Pineda's 0 WAR are technically still the winners of that deal, WAR wise

The jury is still completely out on this trade. We may not know the true winner until 5 years after the trade was done. Montero certainly is looking like a bust though.

Derek Jeter is a lucky man.

Imagine if the Yanks win this trade and Pineda comes back strong

I get the feeling something like this could happen.

Check this article out on Bleacher Report: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1...ankees-in-2013

It talks about how a dominant Pineda could totally put the Yankees in the drivers seat for 2013 and beyond.

If Pineda turns out to be the star of this trade, here is the response you will see from the Saurslinger camp:

How Pineda does is really anyone's guess at this point, even if he wasn't coming off shoulder surgery. Let's not forget that Michael Pineda was a rookie when he was traded, and how many rookies have had great first or second years only to fall completely flat on their faces after that? The number is countless.

Yes, and if Pineda hurts his elbow this time instead of his shoulder, then I'll still be labeled a troll simply because I pointed out his health issues before the trade. Cashman lovers never cease to amaze me.

More on the Montero demotion from Seattle Sports Daily:

Montero has not only looked lost at the plate, but his wretched defense behind the plate his nuking what tiny grain of value he was adding on offense. It’s time for Montero to turn in his catcher’s mitt and try to remember how he became one of the best hitting prospects in baseball a couple of years ago.

The Mariners need Jesus Montero – hitter to all fields with real pop — not Jesus Montero, eyesore in catcher’s gear. I know people have tossed out the idea that he could give first a whirl. Frankly, though, I wouldn’t let Montero touch the diamond on defense for a couple of weeks minimum. He’s got to get back to being a hitting prospect before they worry about teaching first base or anything else.

Montero is broken right now in every facet of the game. Let him get back to the one thing we thought he’d do before tinkering with anything else.

This is getting absurd with the hatred you have towards the Yankees and especially Cashman. The statements you make are getting comical. How many rookies do well in their first or second year and go onto having a good career? SWIDT?

If Cashman doesn't make this trade and Montero is sent back to Scranton and Pineda is hitting 95 mph I am certain that you would attack Cashman again for not pulling the trigger on another trade.

Good news about Pineda. Mariners can trade Montero back to us for some Bagels and he will prosper in pinstripes.

I'd have to know exactly how many bagels are involved before going along with this.
