    Bryce Harper Wins NL ROY

Bryce Harper has been named the 2012 National League Rookie of the Year by the Baseball Writers’ Association of America, becoming the youngest position player to ever win the award.

Harper, 20, also becomes the first player to win the honor with the Nationals since the team moved to Washington. Ryan Zimmerman finished second in 2006, missing first place by just four votes.

Harper received 16 first place votes to beat out Wade Miley of the Arizona Diamondbacks who finished with 12. Reds outfielder Todd Frazier placed third with three first place votes.

If it wasn't for the hype, I'd say I was surprised. Harper is riding a tidal wave of media and fan support. Wade Miley looked pretty good this year but he stood no chance. With that being said, I'd still take Bryce Harper on my team for years to come, the ROTY award is nice but it doesn't make you a Hall of Famer.

Hype doesn't hurt but Harper's name didn't win the award, his play did.

Look how close the votes were anyways. Miley probably wins if he didn't have a bad September and if Bryce didn't turn it on. The 5 WAR went a long way too. Bryce was a big part of the Nats success overall, learning CF in the process.

Exactly as I predicted. There was little doubt to me that he was not going to win this. Regardless of what Miley and Frazier accomplished this was Harper's award.
