Sad day it'll also be hard for him to be first ballot now retiring the same time as ray.

It would be cool if they got in on the same ballot. Two legendary LB from the same era going out together.

    Brian Urlacher Retires

    Urlacher retiring from NFL
    ESPNChicago.com | May 22, 2013
Brian Urlacher is retiring form the NFL after 13 seasons with the Chicago Bears, according to his official Twitter account.

"After spending a lot of time this spring thinking about my NFL future, I have made a decision to retire," Urlacher said in a statement he posted on Twitter. "Although I could continue playing, I'm not sure I would bring a level of performance or passion that's up to my standards. When considering this along with the fact I could retire after a 13-year career wearing only one jersey for such a storied franchise, my decision became pretty clear."

He should be first ballot. Guy was a stud for a long time. Glad he retired though. Just would've been weird seeing him in another jersey.

1st ballot 2018. Thanks for the memories 54, you raised me as a child to a man. Favorite player going to miss watching you run all over the field toting a vaunted defense. Ahhhh.

Our greatest glory is not in never failing. But rather in rising back up every time we do.

Was the right move for him imo. Some guys just need to play for 1 team and he was one of them. Regardless him retiring with Ray he's still a great and should be a 1st ballet.

great player - Butkus, Singletary and the name Urlacher belongs right next to them in the lineage of Bears LB

Thank you from a Bears fan - and I'll say it, thank you for not diluting your legacy and playing for another team just "to get paid". It's rare for a player to play for just one franchise their entire career - it's a testament to the player and the team in terms of partnership and growing together. BRAVO

Have a lot of respect for Urlacher and this coming from a Lions fan. He deserves to be a first ballot HOF but the no ring thing and the fact that Ray retired at the same time he might not be.

Say the words Rohan Davey is better then Brian Urlacher at football or get off the rings arguement.

Look him up, he has a ring so he must be a better footplayer than Urlacher, granted different position but rings are the sole measure.

He is a no question first ballot talent but look at all the greats that don't get in even after 2 or 3.
