    Royals @ A's (5/17 - 5/19)

    @

    Game 1
    Friday, May 17

    _________
    James Shields__________Jarrod Parker

    58.0 ___ IP___ 40.2
    2.92 ___ FIP___ 6.34
    8.22 ___K/9___ 6.64
    2.17 __BB/9__ 4.87
    0.62 __HR/9__ 1.99

Other guys: Shields is having a tough time cashing in a victory despite pitching extremely well. In each of his last two starts, he's gone eight innings. He shut out the White Sox and got a no-decision and then held the Yankees to two runs and lost.
A's: Parker issued a season-high four walks in his last start against the Mariners, but he limited them to three runs on just three hits with five strikeouts in 6 2/3 innings -- encouraging numbers for the struggling righty.

    Game 2
    Saturday, May 18

    _________
    Ervin Santana__________Tommy Milone

    48.1 ___ IP___ 51.0
    3.46 ___ FIP___ 3.63
    7.26 ___K/9___ 7.94
    1.12 __BB/9__ 1.59
    1.12 __HR/9__ 1.24

Other guys: Santana had not given up a homer in three straight games, but he was done in by two of them vs. the Yankees in last Sunday's loss. His control has been sharp, giving up just one walk against 20 strikeouts in his last four starts and 26 1/3 frames.
A's: Milone has five straight losses despite posting a 3.62 ERA and 1.14 WHIP in that stretch, with 31 strikeouts in those 32 1/3 innings. He wasn't at his best Sunday, though, allowing Seattle five runs in five innings.

    Game 3
    Sunday, May 19

    _________
    Luis Mendoza__________AJ Griffin

    27.2 ___ IP___ 51.2
    4.54 ___ FIP___ 4.34
    6.51 ___K/9___ 6.79
    3.25 __BB/9__ 2.26
    1.30 __HR/9__ 1.39

Other guys: Mendoza notched his first win on Monday at Anaheim, going six frames in a rout. He gave up three runs on six hits, throwing a season-high 101 pitches. This will be his third straight start on a steady schedule which is helping him adjust.
A's: Griffin was at his best against the Rangers on Monday, allowing one run on six hits and no walks with eight strikeouts. He has allowed just four earned runs combined in his past three starts.

This has been his best start pretty easily. Lets hope it's a sign of things to come.

Nice to start the series off with a win. Hopefully the good pitching continues.

Got home from the game a little bit ago... pretty fun game. Good pitching duel and then throw in some A's HR's... good times. Pretty freakin' cold out tonight, but still fun as hell.

Good start by Parker... hopefully he is turning that corner after a bad start to the season. Now lets take game 2 tomorrow.

Didn't expect Milone to last 6 innings. His pitch count was way up there

Nice sweep. Griffin was okay, good news is he didn't give up any homers so I guess that's progress.

Now it's time to take on the Rangers again.
