"His options were to retire for a year, see if he could take care of his body, or get released. You can't be a diabetic 315 pound DT in this league. You'll kill yourself. He had to and still needs to lose weight and get himself right. No one needs him to force himself to be a certain way and end up being carted off the field. To say the Patriots had no right to cut him because he had diabetes is wrong. They had every right to cut a player whose health was up in the air, and could affect his performance this year. It's different when a 210 WR has diabetes and can healthily maintain his body without losing performance. Love is going to have to drop serious weight in order to get his body right and unfortunately losing weight is going to make him a worse defensive tackle. It is what it is."
