I just posted this in the prospects thread. Crazy for me, I know this guy over here and saw him play with the Mainz A's. Dude can hammer the ball but has probably the weakest arm ever. Super athletic, pretty fast and has a crazy work ethic for being 17. We'll see if he ever pans out but he's definitely got talent.

Also I see that Regensburg is credited with him getting signed. That's laughable

Paps, no take on Kamara beyond what can be read anywhere, although the timing is funny. I was just explaining to my girlfriend's father that Germany is the next target market for MLB player development.

You know, a year ago I would have said you're crazy. However since Donald Lutz, people have been following baseball now. Takes one German to break through and there's interest haha. Seeing Reds hats pop up all over now when last year a guy didnt even know he was wearing Phillies hat, just liked the color of it.

Freakishly athletic Bavarians in baseball kinda frighten me

Color me intrigued on this one. I'm seeing rumblings we are going to be "big" players in the International talent pool this year because of changes coming soon. I don't know for sure, but I think that there is going to be an international draft soon rather than FA bidding, so may as well spend it now.

i heard this aswell. but he's incredibly young so either he'll develop an arm or transition to the InF.

    This just validates your point...

Luis Encarnacion, 3b, Dominican Republic (video): If Devers isn’t the best offensive prospect in Latin America, that title might belong to Encarnacion, who trains with Juan Herrera, plays in the IPL and won’t be able to sign until he turns 16 on Aug. 9. Encarnacion is 6-foot-2, 185 pounds, hits in games consistently and already has plus power from the right side. While Encarnacion earns widespread praise for his offensive upside, scouts are even more sold on him having to change positions soon after signing, either to left field or first base. Sources say the Phillies have been enamored with Encarnacion and have emerged as his most likely destination.
