    A's at Mariners (May 10-12)

Never have I been so happy to move on from one series to the next. The A's fly to the Pacific Northwest to battle with the upstart Seattle Mariners, in the city with no basketball team

    Pitching Matchups

Friday May 10th: Dan Straily (1-0 5.94 ERA) vs Hishashi Iwakuma (3-1 1.61 ERA)
Saturday May 11th: Jarrod Parker (1-5 7.34 ERA) vs Brandon Maurer (2-4 6.07 ERA)
Sunday May 12th: Tom Milone (3-4 3.13 ERA) vs Joe Saunders (2-4 6.15 ERA)

Based off last season success, the A's have the advantage in all three pitching matchups. In the current season's success, the A's have been an inconsistent ball club. Obviously the injuries have not helped the cause in any way. With Safeco bringing in the fences, look for La Potencia to show a big power display early and often in this series. He seems to favor Safeco based off last season's success against the Mariners, so lets hope he has a big series.

Short, sweet IGT. Wanted to try my hand at it for this series, because the prior series I did an IGT for, we got the big sweep in Anaheim. So let's ride this IGT to victory baby!! #BleedGreenAndGold #RideOrDie

We need to get back on track this series especially since it's within the division.

Straily really let the team down with that outing. Like every other SP besides Milone and KIND OF Griffin

Not really. Griffin and Parker are the pitchers on this staff I'm concerned about most. They are giving up a ton of homeruns (everyone on the staff is actually). Griffin had a high HR/FB rate last season as well, but this year he's giving up more flyballs. Out of all qualified starters in the league, he actually has the lowest groundball rate at ~28%, that's not good for a guy who already had a high HR/FB rate. So even though his ERA looks fine, he's actually pitching significantly worse. Parker is obviously the worst giving up over 2 HR/9 (which is ridiculously high) along with walking a ton of guys.

I'm not as concerned about the other pitchers because they at least have good strikeout rates or in Colons case he's not walking anybody. Aside from Milone, they all need to get it together, Parker and Griffin especially.

Parker gives up a homer. I'm shocked by this. Shocked.
