Definitely a good read. I was one of the ticked off fans but would never think of destroying my authentic Albert Pujols Cardinals jersey. I spent money on it and still love Albert. Glad we passed on giving that hefty contract to him because we are better off. As it is being shown by the Angels they can buy players but it doesn't mean they are going to win. I really hope they don't win anything the entire time they have pujols and hamilton just because I want to see a team like the A's or the M's win their division with that small payroll.
I was one who was more confused than mad when he left.
I knew the guy was going to play how he is now at some point but I honest expected it in the last 5 years of his contract.
I don't feel bad for the angels though, they had plenty of offense so what do they do? Sign Hamilton and Joe Blanton? Really? Money much better spent on a player like Lohse and trade for a guy who had to be removed from the braves rotation last year and put them as your 4th and 5th starter.
I honestly think its hilarious they're failing. They tried a very unbalanced team and just wanted to bring in huge names. Like the Yankees except the Yankees are good at being the Yankees, the angels changed their philosophy after a big tv contract. They also traded for Vargas lol
But seriously, that's who your gonna fill out your rotation with? There was plenty of quality pitching available. Lohse, Greinke, Haren (who they released for a health issue), Edwin Jackson among others.
Currently their rotation sits - 1. Wilson 2. Blanton 3. Vargas 4. Hanson 5. Williams. That's a real ****in problem lol
I like the yankees approach as of lately though. Bring in decent vets like Youk and keep guys like Ichiro and Kuroda on the team. Not really going out there and buying the players. I think they see what has happened with Arod and TEX maybe as well and probably aren't going to just shell out boat loads of cash anymore just because they can. They are getting alot smarter within and they will get better quicker that way.
Remember when we were liked to Vargas as a potential trade partner for him? OMG didn't want it at all glad the Angels got him. He's a decent back end rotation guy but nothing special.
Bernie wrote about it.
Bernie Bytes: Pujols still winning games for Cardinals
http://www.stltoday.com/sports/colum...30aca5659.htmlThe Cardinals don't play the Los Angeles Angels until the first week of July, out in Anaheim. There's plenty of time to revisit Albert Pujols' controversial decision to leave St. Louis as a free agent.
I'm bringing it up in advance for a simple reason, and no, it has nothing to do with wanting to rip Pujols.
Quite the opposite, really.
There's no reason for the Cardinals or their fans to be mad at Pujols.
Actually, they should thank Pujols.
