Do you think the Celtics will pick up Paul Pierce's options for next year?

Will the Celtics pick up Pierce's 15.25 million option for next year or buy him out for 5 million?

Im torn on this one and i realize a lot depends on what else they can/want to do but I think we could always pick up his option and trade him later in the year. I would not be shocked though, if they did not pick it up.

Perhaps they let Pierce go and convince KG to retire or accept a trade. A Pierce buyout could trigger the rebuild, which is where this team needs to go now.

We needed the rebuild started already. Wish we could have traded them when they had value.

My gut tells me they will.

Whether they trade him or not after the fact is another question.

With KG definitely on the books next season and making it seem if Pierce goes then he goes tells me there's more to lose from a business standpoint if the C's DON'T pick up the 15mil$ option...

I sense 1 more final run next season...

I don't. I think KG retires and PP gets traded to another team.

I think Pierce on a 1 year deal gives him value on the trade market so it really is 50/50 IMO.

i think they try and trade him first. if that doesnt happen, then they buy him out.

i think they pick up the option. i don't think they are ready to just cut loose and he will be here next season.where they start the rebuilding is unclear to me.if the have him,kg,rondo and sully they are playoff bound but not true contenders is my guess.

either they will pick it up, trade him or amnesty him, a buyout for 5 mil. makes no sense financially regarding the cap situation

there's really no point in buying him out if KG is still here. It doesn't open up any room against the cap (they would still be over the soft limit), and it would just make this team worse for no reason.

    Thanks for the Memories Suarez!

Yup, you gotta pick up his option and try to trade his expiring contract for some assemblence of assets.

$16M is a lot for any team to take on, forget the fact he's had nagging injuries for years and turns the ball over more than he scores it.

Amnesty is the best option sadly.
