Matt Harvey named NL Pitcher of Month

    http://espn.go.com/blog/new-york/met...tcher-of-month
After going 4-0 with a 1.56 ERA in six starts, Matt Harvey has been named NL Pitcher of the Month for April.

Harvey had 46 strikeouts, which tied for fourth in the NL, while logging 40 1/3 innings. His ERA ranked third. He was one of only two NL starters to go 4-0. The other: St. Louis' Lance Lynn.

The Mets would have been 6-0 in Harvey starts for the month had they not squandered Monday's lead in Miami.

The last Mets pitcher to win the monthly award was R.A. Dickey for June 2012.

We can only hope that Wheeler turns out to be as good.

    Imagine that 1-2 punch.

Then add in Montero and Syndergaard.

This could be our rotation 2 years from now:

    Harvey
    Wheeler
    Syndergaard
    Niese
    Montero

    Harvey's still a funny name.

And I still have a friend Shirley who's bigger than you.

Congrats Matt Harvey, the next great Met.

His voice lacks the range of tonal color necessary to make it consistently interesting. Full time consideration of another endeavor might be in order."

I must be missing some pop culture reference here--like a line from a movie or something.

Old Honeymooners episode. Ralph and Ed were abot to shoot pool in a pool hall when a small man with a high pitched voice shows up and tells them that he and his friend Harvey were there first and if they don't leave Harvey is going to get mad because Havrvey is even bigger than himself.

To which Ralph exclaims, "I've got a friend Shirley who's bigger than you."

A few minutes later a big behemoth of a man shows up, Harvey, and his friend tells him that Ralph said Harvey was a funny name.

Hysterical bit. You can probably You Tube it.

In a 60 year old movie "Harvey" Jimmy Stewart is befriended by a six foot tall invisible rabbit named Harvey.

In other Harvey sightings a young Matt Harvey may be the next SuperMet 4-0 1.28/0.69 with 58 Ks in 49 inn.
