    POLL: Pre-Draft Analysis

Last year, as part of our pre-draft analysis, we put together the inaugural First-Year Player Draft PSD Consensus Top Talent List. Six members participated -- 1908_Cubs, cubsbullsbears2, hrubes20, Jilly Bohnson, RedHeadsRule, and Tom Emanski -- and the results can be seen below.

This year, we will do either a consensus top talent list or a consensus mock draft for the first round.

We will put it to a vote, and then once the poll is closed in seven days, that is what we will do.

We will also have a section for second round considerations. I will address that once the poll is closed.

Anyone and everyone will be welcome to participate. Just make sure that once we decide upon which of the two we will be doing, you submit your entry to me, Yagyu+, via PM, no later than 11:59PM ET on May 31. This will give me enough time to play with Excel. No late entries will be accepted, and only one submission will be allowed per person.

Please do not post your lists/mocks in this thread; they will not be included. And please do not send me submissions until we ultimately decide upon which format we’ll be using.

    Code:

I'd like to see both to be honest. We got time and this place is quite slow.

Also I have actually paid a little attention this year and would be willing to help out like you asked me to last year.

    I hadn't considered doing both.

If a mod could change the poll to add a "Both" third option, then that would be just Commander Keen.

EDIT: **** it. We're doing both. poodski has decided. Poll is closed.

Participants are not required to do both, you can do one or the other. If the spirit moves you, however, send me a submission for both.

Please stipulate in the subject line if it's a mock draft or a top talent list. I'm thinking 1-27 for each respective list, as this encompasses the entirety of the first round.

Also, and this is restricted to one entry per person, you may include the name of one player you hope the Cubs select in the second round.

I'll begin accepting submissions immediately, but no changes will be allowed, so don't send me anything until you're good and ready. The deadline is the same as before, 11:59PM ET on May 31.

Both would be pretty sweet, but I went top talent list between them.

We'll do both. I'll get the poll, thread title and first post straightened out in a bit.

When should this be done? I think late May at the earliest since we're going to be hearing more and more stuff in the next few weeks.

Deadline for submissions is posted, but it's going to be about one week before the draft.

Yags are you going to create separate threads for both?

If people would rather, I suppose we could do multiple threads for just the lists, but I figured we'd do it like last year and have two draft threads: one for the draft and then another to track signings over the following weeks.

As for the consensus mock draft and top talent lists, I think it makes sense to keep all of the information available in one thread; my intention was that they'll be one above the other in the eventual draft thread. Should help avoid cluttering the forum.

I actually ran out of character space last year and had to trim the thread, so some information from the draft thread may be spread out over the first two or three posts.

Sure thing. We've got about a month to figure things out. I'm flexible and can be convinced one way or another, so long as it's what people are looking for.

I voted for top talent just because I'd like to know what people think of the talent rather than trying to line up with what teams will do.

I'd like to participate but since I don't really care for picks #3 - #40whatever since they don't affect the Cubs, the only part I spent enough time thinking about is the top. Astros will take Appel and Cubs will take either Gray or Bryant.
