Should Bases Be Flat Like Home Plate?

This could very well get ridiculed but here goes...

So, Stanton just pulled a hammy trying to beat out an infield single. He took his last lunging step and with his leg all the way extended, as soon as his foot touched the base, his leg sort of buckled and he hit the dirt in obvious discomfort. It just seems that those type of injuries happen because the base is raised off the ground it's not a natural landing spot when you're running full-steam. I've never seen a runner pull up limp after crossing home plate. So, why not have all of the bases level with the ground or just a few centimeters off of it? Seems like we wouldn't see as many injuries, such as when somebody slides late and the base halts their momentum awkwardly and suddenly your star has torn ligaments. With a flat base that shouldn't happen. Obviously, a runner will have a real tough time not over-sliding and they run the risk of being tagged out after they slide off the base. Maybe a tweak to the rules would be needed, I dunno. It just feels like those are injuries that can be avoided.

    Thoughts?

The only problem would be stolen bases. Players use the base to stop their momentum and this would pretty much make take the stolen base out of the game.

It would pretty much take sliding out of the game, so definitely the rules would need to be tweaked. Would it be that big of a deal for fielders to not be able to tag out a runner if he slides passed the base? Personally for me, I wouldn't care. But I know a lot of fans would have a real problem with it. It might also make it harder for Umps to judge the tag, a little.

Then again, it could preserve several careers.

Is this question some kind of joke?? Players need to be able to run fast around the bases and have something to step on to change directions. How the hell can they do this with flat bases? Way more injuries would occur doing that absurd idea. Ridiculous.

Rounding second with a flat base would be impossible. They should be orange pylons

Yes of course I have. I figured if they were made of similar material so that the cleat doesn't slip, it would work.

It would create more injuries than it would take away and would make baserunning a smaller part of the game than it already is.

Simple Solution: Have the bases made out of these

Spiky half on the baserunner's hands. The soft half on the base.

And by the way, those pants, they belong to my dad.And they're not really pants,
    they're Lederhosen

Ok. Stupid question, mods can close this now.

In the meantime, I'll be working on the velcro base prototype
