The Panthers, Lighting, and Preds wouldn't take him; from the top 5.

Might as well just announce it there. Jones is obviously the #1 selection

I'm not an Avs fan, but I do think it's cool when a plays gets to play at a place where he grew up.
You're talking to me all wrong... It's the wrong tone. You do it again and I'll stab you in the face with a soldering iron. Hey, tell me, does your mother sew? BOOM. Get her to sew that!

Duchene, ROR, Landy, Seth Jones, and Varlamov. Watch out Western Conference, the Avs are coming.

Awesome for the Avalanche. Florida can draft MacKinnon. Awesome moves and fits for both sides.

Seth wasn't a lock for the first overall, but taking in he's the best right now, not by much, and position need, he makes too much sense.

I'm happy to see the Avalanche get the pick, and thrilled that Edmonton will not be drafting in the top 5.

Exactly what the Avs needed, a top-pairing D to play with EJ. They have ample center depth (Statsny, Duchene and O'Reilly), good wing depth (Parenteau and Landy) and good goaltending. They only needed defensive help.

That being said, I'm happy for the Panthers as well. How's a Huberdeau-MacKinnon 1-2 punch for you? Or maybe even a Huberdeau-Drouin combo? Either would work well. And they don't really need Jones, since they already have a bunch of good young D. I'm thinking it will go down like this:

    1. Colorado selects D Seth Jones
    2. Florida selects C Nathan MacKinnon
    3. Tampa selects C Aleksander Barkov (need to replace Lecavlier sooner or later, why not now?)
    4. Nashville selects W Johnathan Drouin
    5. Carolina selects W Valeri Nichushkin (no need for another center in Monahan with Staal bros there forever)
    6. Calgary selects D Darnell Nurse
    7. Edmonton selects C Sean Monahan
    8. Buffalo selects W Hunter Shinkaruk
    9. New Jersey selects C Elias Lindholm
    10. Dallas selects D Rasmus Ristolainen
    11. Philly selects D Robert Hagg
    12. Phoenix selects W Valentin Zykov
    13. Winnipeg selects G Zach Fucale
    14. Columbus selects W Frederik Gauthier

That is, assuming they pick based on needs, not picking BPA.

Wouldn't it make more sense for Tampa to get a St.Louis replacement for Stamkos for the next 10+ years? (Drouin). Barkov falls to the Preds, perfect player for them. Flames should draft a forward, Oilers a defender.

Nope, Lecavlier is going to flame out sooner than St. Louis imo. St. Louis just won the Art Ross. Lecavlier can't even hit a PPG. He hasn't since 07-08. Age is only a number. I'd rather have St. Louis on my roster for the long-run than Lecavlier.

1 will be a franchise player, the other will not. Ever since when do 2nd line centers need to average a ppg to be good?

If they pick Barkov over Drouin I'm going to question their intelligence.
You need centerman that can play two ways and if they donít play two ways in the end, you canít win, because the guy you are counting on canít get himself on the right side of the puck enough. So sure he can score, he can score but his team loses every night, I didnít know that was the objective. I thought winning was the objective. So if you centers canít play down the middle, and canít play without the puck, you have no chance.
