    short and to the point

    Winning with patience
Oakland Raiders: The word "rebuilding" is thrown around a lot, but most teams truly are never far from 8-8. The job general manager Reggie McKenzie inherited last season was a true rebuilding situation. Judge the man when he has some picks to spend and doesn't have mountains of dead money from terrible contracts of the last regime. The cheap linebacker signings (Kaluka Maiava, Nick Roach) could work. Last year's cheap linebacker signing (Philip Wheeler) got rich this offseason.

DA is a defensive guy and RM was a LB and supposedly is a good talent guy. Wheeler did ok. If we liked these guys from the start, i'm trusting Reggie. If we are gonna start "rebuilding" at the front 7, i'm REALLY ok. with hard workers and the new coaches, I believe we can be a competitive .500 team this year.

Reggie is gonna have major problems after the 5th home game, the fans are not going to fill the stadium with the likes of Palmer behind center. The last 3 home games will see tons of lost cash in ticket sales, parking and concessions. That`s the penalty paid when the toleration isn`t acceptable, people aren`t wasting hard earned money for nothing in return those days have ended. Palmer will single handedly empty that stadium, mark my words.

Reggie got played in a New York Minute

I don't think that will happen. The season will start with Palmer behind center and a package of plays for Pryor. The season will end with Pryor starting and Palmer watching from the sideline. The off-season will start with Palmer being released. I'm not saying Pryor is the long-term answer, but I expect he'll be starting by no later than mid-season.

To further echo Firms position...dont make excuses for the man.
No one told him to bring GK in.He allowed it.
No one told him to sign Bartel and spencer, no one told him to ignore a back up long snapper,no one told him to allow a guy like Tarver to take over as DC with no experience, no one told him to keep Mcclain, and Huff, and give Branch a tone of money,or to allow us to enter the Regular season with no pass rush.

those were all things he had the ability to control and didnt.
he did an awful job in 2012.Nowe you want to make excuses for 2013 and we havent even had the Draft yet.

Honestly SK, I think you being too hard on McKenzie. You are a fan and that's your prerogative but I have been as impressed with what Reggie hasn't done as I have been with the limited moves he has made with the limited capital he has to work with. I believe the shift in offensive philosophy has as much to do with the rule changes as it did Knapp's failures last season. I don't think he or Allen are going helter skelter because Knapp's offense stunk last season. I think they are going back the drawing boards and building a better mousetrap due to the rule changes. I think we can all agree that we need to see a better brand of football, but I believe that it is coming.

If someone started a thread about peanutbutter and jelly, firm would come in with the fire Palmer mantra, saying that Palmer would make himself a PB&j, and then give it away.

Short and simple I want to rid ourselves of McFadden but only if we draft Ball (obviously not at 3) whenever is the best time to draft him. The other back i would not mind is Ellignton (from clemson I think).

SK, I'm not disagreeing w/you in regards to GK, but who else could RM have signed to play CB? Apparently Porter wanted to play in Denver and not Oakland, and RM could only afford the likes of Ron "Statue of Liberty" Bartell, and "Sashshay" Shawntae Spencer. It's not like he had endless amounts of $$$ lying around ready to dole out to the best CB's. Look at what Finnergan and Carr got in FA last year. There was no way we could afford one of the better CB's in last year's FA market. Look at what we have been viewing as potential CB's this year. Sean Smith got 11 mill in guaranteed money from the Chiefs, and chose them over us, and I don't blame him one bit. That's a lot of change to rattle in one's pocket. Then there's Terrance Newman, and who knows if he will sign with us or the Bengals. Other than that, I haven't heard them being mentioned with any other FA CB, including Tracy Porter. We simply didn't have the necessary monies to get a good CB last year, and not a whole lot more $$$ to buy one this year.

As for Huff and McClain, he had already taken on the dead money from releasing Wimbley and Routt, and to take on that much dead money(when we were already approx 25 mill over it when he took us over), would have been too much for us. He is getting rid of the "Al Davis' Lottomania" contracts a little each offseason. Last year Wimbley's and Routt's. This year was Seymour's, DHB's, and Huff's. Kelly's and McClain's will soon follow I believe.....unless Kelly gives back some $$$....not restructure.........I mean GIVE BACK....as in "here, take it"..........then he can stay, if not?.....adios muchacho......and I think Palmer's in his crosshairs as well.......this thing is gonna take some time to settle.....just be patient......I am......

I like Ball as well. He may slip into the latter part of round 2, no? If so, we have no chance. I'd settle for LaGarrette Blount, if he's released.........

someone may or may not hve told him to fire hue....thats what the problem was last year. Interesting Tom Cable's new team did well, as did Hue's new team.

Oakland is not the only place that has empty seats. The economy has a lot to do with it. Even when they played good, it was rarely a sellout. Right now I don't think there's a lot of season ticket holders, however, if they do start winning, the fans will come back. Not all of them, but most of them.
