    Mike Mitchell to the Panthers

Michael Mitchell - DB - Panthers
Panthers agreed to terms with free agent S Michael Mitchell, formerly of the Raiders.
Mitchell joins an underwhelming safety group that includes Haruki Nakamura and D.J. Campbell, but is still unlikely to push for a starting job. Primarily a run stopper, Mitchell should also contribute on special teams.

Another one leaves the coup. Feels good to totally rid ourselves of all of Al's projects. Wow, very few of Al's guys left

This loss disappoints me. With more playing time I think this kid coulda been an impact player. I hate losing guys who have a passion for the game. After a poor showing last year he was almost in tears in the locker room cause he was so upset. The guys wants to be good and wants to win. To me, this is a guy you keep around and keep developing until he becomes a starter. At worst he was a serviceable and cost effective backup

An impact player? Not a chance. I doubt he ever would be a quality starter. As a back-up and special teamer he was ok, but as others have said, he's easily replaced.

    Mike Mitchell to the Panthers

I want to waive him last summer, but our safety count was too low. He stunk.

Last summer, he wasn't even making a difference in the 3rd and 4th quarter of preseason games.

    Mayock was right about you.

I hate to do this, but here's a brief list of 2nd round guys taken after Mitchell:

LeSean McCoy, Phil Loadholt, Sebastian Vollmer, Sean Smith, Andy Levitre

Another wasted early pick....is there any question why we stink?

I would've waived Matt Giordano first last year before this kid but I agree too high of pick he was doomed to fail, however everyone in the draft is a Risk. Its easy to look back and pick the players in the previous draft and hand select who became stars. If that was the case Draft Brady, Dumervill, Arian Foster etc

Thanks Captain Obvious, I am aware that the draft is a risk. However, it gets even riskier when you draft guys that grade out as 6th or 7th round talent in the 2nd round.
