    Carmelo Anthony Trade

Two years ago, the Knicks traded for Carmelo Anthony. A few months later Donnie Walsh left. Everyone "knows" the trade was Dolan's idea. He owns the team. Little rich boy with his toy. Well folks, what do you think of the trade now? How are the Nuggets doing with no super star?

Remember all the nonsense from jerks like Stehen A. Smith saying you cannot win without a star? Think on that one for awhile?

Not knocking Melo as an outstanding offensive player. He is very good. But that is it.

And when you think about the trade, don't forget the draft choices - all of them - and include Laundry Fields as a lost player because with Melo it is all about isolation.

Finally, Melo had to have his money now. Compare that with James. Had Melo had any smarts or sense of team, he would have just come via free agency. The operative word there is "free." He would have cost nothing.

That is why George Karl is so happy and why the Nuggets aer playing so well.

I don't think those jerks were talking about the regular season when they said you can't win without a star.

I think the Nuggets won the trade. They fleeced us for all or assets. They look great now but Melo wanted his money because of the new CBA that was gonna take place the following year. I'm sure Melo would accept a trade to Brooklyn as long he received the max, his preference was probably NY but I'm sure he'd gladly go to the Nets since they were moving to BK. I don't blame him, money talks he didn't really owe us anything but if he did come as a free agent we would have been a scary team that's for sure.

Besides the pistons in '04 or whenever that was, name me a team that has won a championship without a start. You are fooling your self if you think they are a contender. Nice regular season team but who takes and makes that big shot for them in the playoffs when you need it?

You can win a championship with a team built around Carmelo Anthony. You cannot win a championship with a team of role players. Not ever.

You can't look at how good the Nuggets are right now and say 'hey they won the trade'.

The Nuggets improved from a 50-55 win team to.....a 50-55 win team.

Knicks were a .500 team who is now 13 games over and might win 50 games for first time in like 15 years.

You could easily argue we made the bigger leap from what we were, to what we are now, due to the pieces we received in the trade, more than you can argue Gallo and Chandler are carrying that team to victory on a nightly basis. Nuggets were a great team already and got some nice pieces from us. Them being better than us right now doesn't mean they won the trade.

And DET had an ALL TIME great defense. Nuggets have no star and are going to rely on outscoring the opponent PHX Suns style in a 7 game playoff, I just don't see it working for more than a round.

I think this is a prime case of both teams winning. Knicks got the star they were desperate for, Nuggets got a nice return in a handcuffed situation and their team didn't miss a beat as a result.

Denver raped us in this trade. If Melo really wanted to come here and win, he would of waited till free agency. Instead money was more important.

Ironically the trade didn't help Denver at all, the pieces we gave are not the main components of why Denver is winning.

That team is powered by Lawson Faried Miller and Iggy....our ex Knicks stay injured, matter of fact Wilson might be DONE this year.

It's officially time to quite rehashing this, Denver is totally different, while Melo was a necessity for the Knicks.

Yep but what's done is done.
After seeing how Deron has been playing since being traded I'd say we got the better star.

I respect what you are saying but I disagree.
At this point, I can't say that you can build a team around Melo. Although he's capable of being one, he isn't a team oriented player. He has proven that he can do it. He just doesn't do it with consistency. Our team was killing it defensively in the beginning. So we are capable. What changed? Effort. If Melo is the guy you build around, he'd be giving that effort every game in and out. He doesn't.
He's a great scorer and would be a valuable part of a specific team. He is not a centerpiece, in my opinion.

I don't think either team won or lost this trade... yet. There may never be a winner but there won't be a loser. It helped both teams. Both teams improved.

huh? Chandler just dropped 30+ the other night and Gallo is their go to guy outside of Lawson not Iggy.

He's actually turned it on of late.
